Fahrenheit 9/11 is on cable again
It's been about a year or so since I saw it. What a great film. Moore just nails the Clown Prince. It is so damn infuriating to watch this. It really underscores how screwed up we are as a country and yet our Republican Congress just continues on (see farcical flag burning amendment). But I wonder....everytime this movie is shown, there has to be people who get that epiphany; who suddenly awaken from their delusion; who have reached the tipping point in their support for this misadministration. F9/11 is as painfully relevant today as it was 2 years ago. I wonder how many people tonight are watching this for the 1st time, finally lowering their political shields and letting the message sink in. I wonder how many more committed Bushbots are getting reprogrammed as I type this?

1. What channel?
I might watch -- all my DVDs are packed up right now because I'm moving.

I'm surprised every time how genuinely emotionally moving it is. The music and the images fit so well and so tragically together. The black screen accompanied with the sound of the impacts of 9/11, followed by only reaction shots, is some of the most powerful filmmaking I've ever seen. It sure as hell gets to the truth of that moment better than any other documentary I know of. And then there's the dual tragedy of Gore presiding over Congress, unable to recognize any objection because no senators would sign it. And Lila Lipscomb reading the final letter from her son! So awful. So so awful.

The only thing I think could make that movie better is if he backed away from the James Bath/Carlyle Group/George Bush Sr. conspiracy angle. I think he would've been better off talking about the PNAC, and how we *chose* to attack Iraq because some people thought now was a good time for America to rule the world. But that's neither here nor there. Fahrenheit 9/11 is a powerful movie, and I think anyone who sits down and watches it all the way through will come out changed.
