Lamont supporters: give me your phone number at work.
That way, I can ask the receptionist a question, any question, while you are busy actually doing work, and post on DU that you are "mulling over" the answer within the several hours your attention is on things more important than my imbecilic prank.

1. Up to this week I respected Ned Lamont and supported his challenge
to Joe Lieberman.

But after tonight and the Republican Party story coming out of Connecticut, I'm for Ned Lamont WAY more than ever.

Go Ned! Go Ned! Go Ned!!!

And have you been on Kos lately?

Don't worry, I'll be right here with your crow.

It's not personal.

Your guy Joe may win in CT.

Then again he may not.

I think you should check out something on frozen custard, however.

Think about it. Temperatures are high, it's the middle of summer...

Don't tell me you haven't been thinking of frozen custard....

21. But what about those crocodiles, LoZoccolo? Everyone's heard the
rumor but frankly I've never seen even ONE photo of Joe Lieberman wrestling giant lizards.

Frankly I smell a false claim.

15. Why doesn't the Lieberman campaign refute it now then?
If they are not "mulling it over" then they need to come out immediately and correct the record. This story has been out for hours now and I haven't heard any rebuttal when they should have had a rebuttal out in minutes if it were not true.

27. What is so funny, would you let this rumor go if it were not true?
If so you certainly would not make a good campaign manager. This is being read by millions of people across the country, if it were not true it would seem the campaign would try to quash the rumors immediately.

35. Maybe I shouldn't have brought up the crocodiles.
The Republican Party? There's a record of Lieberman's playing footsie with THEM. And they're an incorrigibly evil bunch, to be sure.

Bush and Lieberman's smooch went out to every airport lobby and terminal in the world that night. A big wet kissy-smooch between a grandstanding ego-driven party irregular and a blathering hyena president. All the world saw it and all the world probably didn't have sex that night.

I concede that Joe might hold on to his Senate chair. But all the little elves are whispering, "Ned Lamont. Ned Lamont. Ned Lamont..."

19. I think it's Lieberman himself who is planting the rumor.
FOX News has a kind of gold standard for which talking heads invite which polticos on their Sunday programs.

12. Why would I be? I can't vote in Connecticut.
I have laid down plently of criticism about Lamont's supporters being blithely ineffectual. Go do a search of some of my posts from the last month. Oh, and the poll about whether or not they care if a Republican ends up in that Senate seat was like 88% no before I suspect people realized I would probably be using the results time and time again against the Lamont movement.

They have great scenery and very soon, a brand new Democratic Senator.

Ned Lamont's his name.

O you'll like him. Much better than that hack he's replacing.

29. Well, I don't think he's a Republican.
He's obviously better than Schlesinger. People are being ignorantly disingenuous when they claim otherwise. The sheer insanity of believing that that's not so has done more to turn me off to Lamont than anything; we need to get more of what we want, not act out of craziness and lies.

And I know almost nothing about Lamont due to the sheer superficiality of the rhetoric pushed by his supporters here as well. And his supporters haven't gained him much in my eyes due to tactics like the one this thread's about, or, as I've mentioned, the repeated equation of Lieberman with the Republicans. People who say things like that, I have trouble believing.

The last polls I've seen give the undecideds a bigger percentage than Lamont in a two-way race against Schlesinger, with Schlesinger getting 20% in that race as opposed to the three-way Lieberman/Lamont/Schlesinger race where he'd get 8%. So it seems Lamont helps the Republicans somewhat. And first and foremost, I am against the Republicans, especially chairing committees.

28. I just wish Joe Lieberman would not be so coy about his crocodile
wrestling.

It's really nothing to be ashamed of.

If that's what he was, that's what he was.

Johnny Cash didn't exactly live an angelic youth, did he?

And he did ok. Made quite a life of it if you ask me.

Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 11:16 PM by Old Crusoe
Lieberman MIGHT have been a crocodile wrestler. I don't have PROOF that he wasn't.

But it just seems unlikely.

And I think that's upsetting to his supporters in some odd way.

Just my take.

10. And also, how many parties can Holy Joe run on at the same time?
The Republicans are evidently interested in him now.

Before that he wanted to run as an independent.

Then before that as a Democrat who was really a Republican.

Before that he was in the Clueless Blur-Heads for Liberty Party, I think.

That Joe really keeps folks on their toes, don't he?

Because this is the first I've heard of it.

Somehow, he doesn't exactly look the type. But anyway, if it's true, then bully for him.

Truth be told, I'd probably hesitate to take a job like that.

25. Is this about the PETA endorsement? I bet that's it.
Lieberman's in a tough position. On one hand he craves the PETA endorsement -- who wouldn't? -- but then again he used to be a crocodile wrestler in his youth.

Some people have a long memory, you know.

Some crocodiles do also. Just ask Captain Hook.

Who by the way, was REAL. Only Republicans think he's a fictional character. Republicans will believe anything.
