Article from Keystone Politics website:
I'm not an overly emotional guy. I'm fairly relaxed and do my best to maintain composure and frankly have never understood people who find that it is appropriate to raise their voice to be the loudest person in the room in order to try and make a point. That's not discourse... that's yelling and frankly, our country has enough of it and could afford to lose some of it.
So the debate. No control by the moderators. What a difference between Tim Russert and those guys. That aside, Rick Santorum isn't full of passion as he claims: he is full of RAGE! He is angry and frankly, we're not going to take it any more. It's not healthy to be so angry and all he does is inspire anger from others, be it his followers who foam at the mouth for his right wing rhetoric or from his opponents who just can't believe that somebody has gone on so long without being challenged. I found myself wanting to throw things at the guy. He is full of the kind of hot air and anger that upsets people to the point of not being able to tolerate politics. 2006 is not about anger... it's about changing course and my guess is that Ricky knows this.
I wonder if the rage is a product of desperation. Rick reads the papers. He's seen the polls. He's struggling in every part of the state and probably knows that the likelihood of winning isn't good and he can't stand it that he is going to lose to a guy that doesn't get sucked into the anger and rage that Santorum displays. Casey's a calm guy. You can tell that when things get hot, he's relaxed and capable of reason and I think this country can use some of that. In Washington, things are about red meat and one upping the opposition. Casey can hold a conversation without showing anger. Rick Santorum just starts to yell. Bob Casey brings the right demeanor and the understanding that staying the course is not an option. We need a new direction and that new direction involves taking a deep breath and not launching into tirades.
