CT Green candidate drops out to support Dem challenger.
Hartford — With polls showing a tight matchup in this year's 4th Congressional District race, the Green Party is withdrawing its candidate and throwing support to Democrat Diane Farrell.

“We decided to have a strategic alliance with the Democratic Party because we believed this was the quickest way to achieve peace in the Middle East,” said John Sieh, treasurer for Richard Duffee, the Green Party's 4th District candidate.

“Our decision is a vote of confidence in Diane Farrell's seriousness about putting some brakes on Bush's imperial presidency and at least returning us to the rule of law,” said Duffee, a former law professor.

8. And the people who should see this won't see this
Conflicts with their world view. :)

You know, the one that says all Green candidates are out to destroy the Democratic Party.

I kid you not, someone here actually put forth this "theory".

And people agreed.

Seriously.

3. My new heroes.
The Greens of Connecticut. They were thinking of all of us, not just their party.

5. Very honorable. Maybe the (I) candidate in CT could too!
The Independent candidate, who is currently a Democrat mind you, should drop out of the race. He is not the Democratic nominee and it would seem to me that the pukes are voting for good ole' Joe. If this SOB wins CT and switches to become a puke, I would implore Olympia Snowe and/or Susan Collins to switch to Democrat.

7. If there are any paper ballots in CT, aren't they already printed?
Or is the whole state electronic?

11. excellent. we are finally figuring out that there's a time & place for everything.
push push push to get progressive candidates into the primary, and into local offices to get them the experience they need, but when it comes down to the general election, don't sacrifice the good for the sake of an unattainable "perfect" candidate.

in the absence of violent revolution, the only positive change we're gonna get at the national level in such a huge country is incremental. (note to neo-Trotskyites: cite one example when "heightening the contradictions" or "winning by losing" has worked.)

so i'll take incremental positive change over rapid retrogressive policies any day of the week. AND keep working *from the grassroots up* for an ever-improving slate of candidates.

12. Now if the Green Senate candidate
in Virginia would just do the same. Guess the Greens there would rather have Allen represent their state than Jim Webb.
