Bush Jabs at Dems on Economy

President uses best employment report in 5 years to pound away; Pelosi fires back that Bush 'worst since Depression'

Unemployment Rate Hits 5 1/2 Year Low at 4.4 Percent

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,227390,00.html

President Bush, buoyed by news that U.S. unemployment was at a five-year low, put the focus in the Battle for Congress squarely on the economy Friday, hammering away at Democrats — in particular, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi — who he warned can't wait to do away with tax cuts.

"People are working in the United States, the tax cuts have worked," Bush told a Republican rally in Springfield, Mo., where the president was stumping for incumbent Sen. Jim Talent.

"If these tax cuts are not extended or made permanent, your taxes are going up," Bush warned, charging that Pelosi already had asked "the man who would be chairman of Ways and Means " whether he would preserve the cuts.

"Not a one, not a tax cut," Bush said Pelosi was told.

2. Never mind that after the election the figures will be 'adjusted'.
My daughter fell off the unemployment rolls. Now, she doesn't exist at all -- still unemployed.

3. In my 2+ years of unemployment...
...I've grown to appreciate how lucky I am to be a professional even in this crappy job market. It's ending soon but at a substantial pay cut.

Yeah thanks a lot Bush for fooling people into thinking you are actually talking about their taxes and not the small corporate executive up the street in the biggest mcmansion on the cul-de-sac.

Not that I really think most people are fooled at this point, but to see him crow about forcing so many people into flipping burgers and emptying medical waste containers at two 30 hour hourlies is just SO grating! :grr:

5. Friday night news dump
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 04:57 PM by cobaindrain
Nobody's listening to your spin Dumya. For all intensive purposes, we only have 1 real day of "news" left before people head to the polls. Everything stagnates late friday through sunday.

7. Sometimes I think it's valuable to have Fox News.
It's all of the GOP talking points in one convenient location.
