Regardless of what the MSM want us to believe. Note something in this--the MSM NEVER uses the phrase liberal Republicans. EVER. But since last Tuesday, how often have you heard "conservative" Democrats won this election?
Far too many? Yeah, me too, and it's nonsense; yet here we are doing it with each other. We're no longer just Democrats, we're "progressive/liberal/conservative/DLC/CREW/blue dog," ad infinitum. I can't describe what kind of Democrat I am (beyond being a proud yell-dawg, that is) and I shouldn't have to. I'm a Democrat, period, and in the past week, I've never been prouder to be one.
About last Tuesday: Americans voted for Democrats. It's that simple. We were the alternative for them; indeed their only hope. They didn't vote for the anti-Iraq occupation, anti-choice candidate, they voted for a Democrat, because they want DEMOCRATS to set the agenda. They want Democrats to get us out of Iraq, they want Democrats to make us safe from zealots who despise us, they want Democrats to ensure our financial security, and they TRUST Democrats to clean up the election process and the rotting mold in Washington. The rest, for most Americans, is gravy (which is good for us, by the way).
The American public didn't let the MSM and the Big Giant Talking Heads define who we are; for them, we were their only hope. Period. And that's just fine with me.
Don't get me wrong; I like a healthy debate or I wouldn't be here. Let's debate the agenda by all means. Let's argue over Hillary's qualifications versus Obama's. We can even argue over electability and personality. Let's discuss their positions on the issues. Let's argue to the hilt about priorities. When it's all decided, we can still argue it up--but in the end, we are still Democrats.
But while doing so, let's lose the all-too-easy labels and look at one thing the RRRepublicans do absolutely right; they NEVER refer to each other as conservative/moderate/liberal even when the MSM tries to egg them on to doing so. They are always RRRepublicans, and that may have been their downfall this time. That R next to their names did them in and the D next to ours set the country back on course.
Let's remember the grandeur of that capital "D."
