Military Recruiters Take Desperate Measures, Suggests NY Times Story
Click here to read the entire story.

<snip>

In October, recruiters in the New York metropolitan area were caught on tape lying about the odds of a recruit winding up in Iraq, or about the ease with which someone can leave the military. It was reminiscent of the happy talk from recruiters canvassing shopping centers in Flint, Mich., in the documentary Farenheit 9/11.

A story in the New York Times paints another picture, perhaps equally desperate.

1. yep
Recruiters in Maine have been telling my nephew that things are "changing for the better" in the Army National Guard reserves now. He's 42 years old and considering re-enlisting simply because of the $15,000 bonus they are offering.

5. Can you post a link to the other thread?
I've been wearing a new tinfoil deerstalker cap lately and I wonder if I'm thinking what other people are discovering.

7. Yes, someday we will have a COMPLETELY outsourced army!
Only the poor, college bound, "citizen want-a-be's", 4-F's and less mentally competent will be enlisting (think Lori(?) England...who was considered too incompetent to stand trial). And the raving lunatics cried foul when they pretended to think Kerry's "joke" suggested this very fact was true.

So with an all foreign army...that few care about how many are killed...who will protest and risk being thrown in jail to prevent the future slaughters that will surely take place over the oil rich sections of the world? :Shrug:

I fear for the future of America! The only thing that makes me glad that I'm a senior citizen...is that I won't be around to see what happens to our beloved country and what kind of future our children and grandchildren will have to endure.

10. Septic Sceptics
Having watched Gordon Smith cry, cry, cry his little eyes out on the Senate floor trying to forstall the absolute fucking curb stomping he's going to get in 2008, nobody will be stupid enough to even hint at hinting at studying a proposal to propose a proposal on starting a draft.

(Except Charlie Rangel, but he's Charlie Rangel)

The Republican party aims to continue to have elected officials representing them in Congress. A draft, besides being hopeless in the face of the current legislative leadership, would end the Republican party forever.

8. Fahrenheit 9/11?
Oh, well, Michael Moore is fat, so we don't have to pay any attention to this.

:sarcasm:
