Rep. Jack Kingston (R, GA) : "I don't like Bush either anymore..."
This was AT the MLK Parade in Savannah today. (no kidding)

My mom, alphafemale, was standing by Representative Kingston while he was talking to a woman wearing a peace-mongering shirt. the conversation was about the president. He finally said "...yea, I don't really like him anymore either..."

Yes, this was Kingston for certain. in the 1st district of GA, you can't mistake him. but of course, he may have been doing (what I call) his "bendy-straw" ploy.

 what's he really thinking? has the elevator finally reached the top floor?

1. He's an interesting guy
I recall seeing him giving a couple of speeches on the House floor (via C-SPAN) back when the Repugs were riding pretty high. He was singing the praises of the Bush tax cuts and attacking Michael Moore and came across as a very nasty FReeper-type. I considered him to be one of the worst 'pugs in Congress.

But I was quite surprised to see him on Real Time with Bill Maher a couple of months ago. He presented himself very politely, almost too politely... he almost seemed scared to state his beliefs. I figured it had to do with being on a panel that was stacked against his beliefs (Real Time panels are as stacked against conservatives as This Week with George S.'s panels are stacked against liberals) and figured he was just being a typical politician and trying to please everyone. However, this story makes me more curious about this guy. Who knows? Maybe he has moderated in one way or another. There's a Rep from NC (Walter Jones, I think) who was once a pretty belligerent warmonger (freedom fries guy) but now wants us out of Iraq, regrets his vote for the war, and is trying to ensure we don't escalate things with Iran. So sometimes some pretty surprising people have changes of heart.

2. On the House floor, Kingston's rabid. In his district, however
he acts somewhat dignified. when he's talking to a constituent, he seems like a nice guy (why he got re-elected 7 or 8 straight terms), but you've seen him on the floor.

3. This is the same wanker that was whining about having work
more hours in Congress a few weeks ago, right.

Typical candy-ass Puke. He knows which way the wind is blowing after Bush's speech Wednesday night and that disastrous interview on 60 Minutes last night.

He's making sure he's in a lifeboat before the Titantic sinks.
