8. Actually he shouldn't have to run
for the POTUS, it should just be handed to him on a silver platter, by the SCOTUS no less. After all he did win it in 2000.

2. I think it's sad that this is all some people care about...
And who knows? Maybe Mr. Gore sees this and shakes his head as well. He is out here trying to change the hearts and minds of the American people to understand and address an urgent crisis that left unchecked will forever change this planet and our relation to it... but yes, let's all spend all day every day just speculating on this.

12. And I think it is even more sad that you show up in evey Gore
thread telling people that they should not want him to run.
YOU decide what is in his heart and YOU decide what he shakes his head at.

Yes it is urgent that we address global warming, but if we don't have a competent president

in place, there won't be much of a planet to save.

Your schtick is old and grating

We get it already....
YOU DON'T WANT AL GORE AS PRESIDENT

13. And I think it is even more sad that you seem to be following me around
And I never stated I didn't want him to be President, so don't put words in my mouth. If you read what I typed, I stated that I believe AT THIS TIME I find it sad that this SPECULATION is ALL some people can focus on with the crisis we are facing... a crisis that even Mr. Gore speaks about daily. I suggest you then ignore me if you don't like my comments. No one is forcing you to read anything here.

3. I have to say I'm loving how much press he's getting w/o even having announced yet.
No swift boat attacks, just lots of mention of his not having said no to a "possible" run in 2008.

As I see it, he can keep this up all summer, announce early fall and avoid much of the early mud slinging.

5. Did he actually say that?
I've seen/heard him asked several times, but each time he hedges on the answer.

6. It's the the fact that he keeps saying things such as this:
"More and more people are asking, 'What about Al Gore?' " says Steve Grossman, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee. "If Al Gore were to announce for president, he would be a first-tier candidate on day one. Instead of it being Hillary and Obama on the covers of the national magazines, you would have three faces there."

The Internet activists would turn cyberspace into a potent fund-raising realm for Gore if he does decide to get in, Grossman predicts.

Publicly, Gore hasn't ruled out running, but neither has he evinced much interest.

But when one friend asked him recently about another campaign, Gore didn't dismiss the question out of hand. "We'll see how things go," he replied.

11. Great column in The Boston Globe!
Thanks for the link!

Several times Al Gore has been asked to rule out running in 2008, and each time he has refused to do so. My feeling is that he is keeping his options open.

He is already preparing to start a national debate about how America is governed, with his next book - "The Assault on Reason" - to go on sale May 22.

So in late May and early June we can expect to see a lot more of Al Gore on the TV talk shows. By coincidence - right around the time that speculation around the 2008 election will be warming up!

Nobody is better qualified to be President of the United States than Al Gore.

Gore has been proven right on so many issues, from climate change to the invasion of Iraq.

Next Monday he will draw a crowd of more than 12000 people for a speech in Boise, Idaho !!

If he is ready and willing to seek the Dem nomination, I predict that Gore will lead the field.

Unless and until he endorses another candidate, we should assume he is keeping his options open.

In the meantime - we can all find ways of helping to create the right conditions!

In Gore We Trust :)

7. Glad to hear it. I think he may be the only one who can overcome the
5% to 10% "thumb on the scales" that the Bushite electronic voting corporations are giving to Bushites and warmongers. But, after long experience as a citizen and voter, I'm not into "knights in shining armor" any more. Our job is to get their goddamned fingers off the scales! Do we want a democracy or not? It's up to us.

We are better than this! Gore can wait til a week before the first primary, and still do well :patriot:
