A drunk and a bigot - what the US Presidental hopeful HASN'T said about his father
Just want you guys to know what's out there.......

Yet an investigation by The Mail on Sunday has revealed that, for all Mr Obama's reputation for straight talking and the compelling narrative of his recollections, they are largely myth.

We have discovered that his father was not just a deeply flawed individual but an abusive bigamist and an egomaniac, whose life was ruined not by racism or corruption but his own weaknesses.

And, devastatingly, the testimony has come from Mr Obama's own relatives and family friends.

Charismatic and with movie-star looks, Barack Obama Jnr has managed to steal some of Hillary Clinton's most influential supporters in the two weeks since he entered the US Presidential race.

The 45-year-old lawyer depicts himself as a fresh voice for voters tired of the divisive rhetoric and self-serving ambition of established politicians on each side of the Democrat-Republican divide.

His campaign to become the first black President is inspired, he says, by his love of the country that allowed his father to triumph against astonishing odds.

Barack Obama Snr started life with the advantage of being able to read and write, but he also felt a profound sense of injustice. His father was a cook for British settlers in Kenya, who demeaningly called him their 'personal boy'.

Grandfather Obama sent his son to a missionary school but after completing his education, the youth could find little work except goatherding in his remote village of Nyangoma Kogela, in the roadless hills of Western Kenya.

At 18, he married a girl called Kezia. But Obama Snr was more interested in politics and economics than his family and his political leanings had been brought to the notice of leaders of the Kenyan Independence movement.

He was put forward for an American-sponsored scholarship in economics, with the idea being that he would eventually use his Western-honed skills in the new Kenya. At the age of 23 he headed for university in Hawaii, leaving behind the pregnant Kezia and their baby son.

Relatives say he was already a slick womaniser and, once in Honolulu, he promptly persuaded a fellow student called Ann - a naive 18-year-old white girl - to marry him. Barack Jnr was born in August, 1961.

& it really is trash.

I hope it has no legs...it's all about his father, not at all about Obama.

If they push this crap, we need to hear more about Bush family & Nazis, Bush brother with prostitute, bank failures, etc.

Sling the mud right back at them.

as they did "respect" candidates and president's right to privacy.

I understand that it was widely known that Joe Kennedy and JFK were scandalous womanizers, yet the press didn't hound them about it.

In JFK's case, they even went to great lengths to conceal it.

But her problems as I recall were more the outspoken questioning of Condi alerting the Mayor of SF, Willey Brown not to fly on 9-11, and questioning of the official events of that day.

That sort of thing tends to piss of the powers that be and get a lot of funding from certain entities for your opponent.

Any condemnation for personal family stuff does not interest me too much.

35. Rice did not tell Brown not to fly on 9/11.
That's a myth, and frankly if somebody in McKinney's position is buying into that, they deserve to get some hell for it. What actually happened (as according to Brown) was that he called his security people the night before he was scheduled to fly out to Washington for some reason, and they mentioned a general terrorism advisory which had been issued four days earlier. Nothing specific to 9/11 other than that was when his flight was supposed to be.

47. It also speaks highly of his mother, who he adored.
It also speaks highly of Barack that he would be so forgiving of his father -- I'm sure he knew all of this, and it was touched on in his book. He decided to focus on the positive aspects of his Dad. He also learned lessons from him on what not to do. That's priceless advice -- seeing in the real world what these mistakes wrought.

Obama is very frank about his father in his book, by the way.

They'd better be careful about going there - as with most attempted smear jobs against Obama, this very well might be turned around to his advantage.

And bloody racist in its attitude to immigrants and asylum-seekers in Britain. Also bigoted against gays, single parents, anyone who doesn't act in the way that the right-wing approve.

Also known as the "Daily Hate"; "Hate-Mail"; etc.

And very unreliable in its news reporting.

49. And that originated as the Poppy Bush Death List.

LW nutjobs made up a list of deaths they attributed to Poppy. When Bill came along RW nutjobs changed the attribution and added more names. The two largest groups of "murders" on that list centered around issues out of the Reagan White House.

The INSLAW software was allegedly stolen by Attorney General Ed Meese after which a lot of people involved with INSLAW died of supposedly natural causes. The people who put this list together apparently believe a bunch of men in their 60s and 70s dying of natural causes is suspicious.

The second largest group of murders concerned the Reagan CIA allegedly smuggling drugs into the United States. The people who put this list together apparently found it suspicious that a lot of drug dealers died violent deaths. If that is a sign of CIA involvement, then the CIA must be really busy.

43. Interesting article
Edited on Wed Jan-31-07 04:07 AM by fujiyama
This actually makes me admire Obama even more.

This was definitely a hit piece though - especially the dismissal of racism by former classmates. How do they necessarily know what he faced? It just may be that he didn't talk to them about it or didn't want to make a big deal out of it. He pushed on and did well for him in spite of all that. It just may be he was both highly admired by many - and hated for some of the same reasons - after all, here was some black kid in Hawaii shooting hoops and getting stellar grades and probably getting ladies as well. Shit, he was bound to be making some guys jealous - and racism is bound to rear its head in ugly and SUBTLE ways. I've seen it and experienced it as well at times. And while they have been rare (and rare enough such that friends would never even know about the incidents), they did occur - and I'll be damned if someone ever says I'd be making it up.

And as for his dad's past, it might explain Obama's own push for success, but that's nothing more than psychoanalyzing. Hell, Obama's father may just as well have been some tin pot dictator...It doesn't change Obama's accomplishment. He wasn't even raised by his father...

Obama has led an interesting life and has done extraordinarily well for himself...The guy became the first black editor of the Harvard Law review. That's one incredibly impressive feat.

45. Read whole article
Seems Barack hasn't known all that long about his father's true character. This only adds to the lustre of Jr. IMO. Yet another thing he's "overcome" and it is the sort of thing that can make a person even more driven to succeed.

Look at Little Boots' pedigree and he's the epitome of failure. Besides, don't we here in America vote for individuals? Bloodline stuff is for monarchies.

I'm not an Obama supporter (or supporter of anyone else for that matter) but I don't see this as a big blow to his cause.

57. Thanks. I'll take care not to vote for Obama's father. Does this have anything to do with Obama Jr?

60. As I stated upthread, this is just the Daily Hate-Mail being its typical self
Right-wing, racist (they have a constant hate campaign against immigrants and asylum-seekers in Britain), sensational, and very unreliable in their news-reporting.

Fortunately, I doubt that they have much circulation in the USA. UK politics would certainly benefit from a complete Daily-Mail-ectomy, almost as much as both our countries would benefit from a complete Murdoch-ectomy.

61. This was posted on a local newspaper forum the other day
And it's nothing more than shitty, bottom-feeder tabloid journalism. While a couple of sources are named, you'll notice that the sources supplying most of the 'juicier' tidbits are not.

I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't want some kid I happened to sit in class witrh, who lived down the street, or some distant cousin I've never met providing 'insight' about my childhood and how it might have affected me.

Not that it matters for shit what Obama's father was like, but hit jobs like this really piss me off.

63. This is not worth reading. It has nothing to do with the young man
brought up by the "naive white girl."

66. So because he hasn't trashed his father, he's dishonest?
I don't get that.
