What if Limbaugh said the following:
“I mean, you got the first mainstream woman who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking gal,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

or this: “I mean, you got the first mainstream homosexual who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

or maybe this: “I mean, you got the first mainstream Muslim who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

or perhaps this: “I mean, you got the first mainstream Latino who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

OK by you???

Just curious.

I mean, doesn't matter who says it.

Right????????

1. Two things:
1) We already expect lame shit like that from Lush, not from a Dem presidential candidate.

2) It's different with African Americans, the phrase "clean" has a special meaning when dealing with African Americans. I don't think I need to say the word, but you know what I mean.

2. Regardless of who says it, the suggestion is that women, Muslims, gays and Latinos...
are normally not articulate, bright, clean and nice-looking, regardless of who the messenger is.

5. Thank you
I am afraid that many here would take the "Limbaugh quotes" one way while giving Biden the pass.

The point being (as you so aptly put it) that it is the suggestion, not the speaker, that defines the meaning.

4. It's not racist, sexist, homophobic, etc, unless it's said
with total astonishment that such a thing has come to pass.

The "It's storybook, man!" wasn't racist, but it is tacky.

6. DU would be having a HUUUUUGE sh!t-fit it Limbaugh said any of those lines...
I like Biden, and if he becomes the part nominee, he has my support, but his comments were waaay out of line, and I can't see how they could reasonably be interpretted in any way other than previous black candidates were inferior.

With that said, how will the left respond to something like that.....do we only take action when someone like Limbaugh says it? If so, then it's time for me to leave the left.

7. I guess it would be fair to wonder if some would be less offended
had an Al Sharpton, or Andrew Young or Jocelyn Elders stumbled over the wrong phrase to cause offense where none was intended.
