68. "They will follow us home."
This has been said several times by the Repubs and I am sick of it.

Have you heard of the great Iranian Navy? How about the Al Quaeda fleet of nuclear submarines?
How about the Iraqi Insurgent tank battalions? Oh, wait, the Radical Armed Bridge Invasion Division, known as RABID, which is goint to DRIVE across the oceans to do a land invasion of the USA. My God, people, we are in imminent danger!

Just because it looks like by sending our exhausted and limited troops over there like so much takee outee for the IED's and the snipers to slaughter like ducks in a shooting gallery, just ignore that.

Just because it violates every bit of common military sense (from what I know of military sense) to extend your line of supply for thousands of miles to fight an entrenched enemy who knows the land, the people, where to find what they need, have hundreds of thousands of fellow citizens who will hide them, lie for them, thwart your efforts, don't pay any attention to common sense.

Just because any number of our own military experts, several generals once our primary military geniuses have told us that it is wrong and a waste to send any more troops, we can ignore them. The President has found one lunatic who could be coerced to say the President, the Commander in Question, is right. So, ignore the former many and now follow (this time it's surely the "real thing") our Commander in A Straight Jacket's impeccable military logic.

Are these Bush defenders on the same planet as I am? Have they read the same history I have. Have they any concept of what those serving in the military in Iraq really think? How can they, since those serving in the military in Iraq are forbidden to speak against the commands of the Commander in A Bubble?

To whom can one write when both of their State's Senators are Republic Party members and thier Congressional District is run by an inarticulate Republic Party member.

I'm writing to you guys. I hope they let me have crayons in the loony bin.

And how and why, Democratic Party Members, please, please, tell me: How in the world did you let yourselves get talked into this "non-binding" resolution. Bind it. Why on earth did you give the Republic Party the opportunity to turn into a bunch of flag waving, tear jerking, hysterics, weeping buckets of tears over the death of men and women they sent there to die for political reasons.

This debate is at this very moment the most emotional and rhetorically filled debate I have ever heard, and it is entirely MOOT. The additional troops have already been deployed. We're watching days of theatrics and bickering and the Commander in The Dark has already done the deed.

What an assinine way to run a country. And we think we can tell Iraq how to be a peaceful and sane democracy. It is to laugh. Hysterically.

Your points are all common sense. But we've all learned NOT to expect it from the Congressional GOP.

And belated welcome to DU!

I just came across this post, and it looks to be very informative, but I don't have time now to read all the threads. Just a quick question?? Is anyone keeping a "count" of the repukes who are going to vote with us on this? Yesterday I watched it a good part of the day, and it seemed like over 50% of the repukes I heard were going to go against their Emporer and tell him he has no clothes!!! Thanks for any info you have on the count so far. DC

Reid schedules Iraq vote Saturday, causing headaches for some '08ers

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Demanding an "up-or-down vote," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday the Senate will vote Saturday on the House resolution condemning the troop increase in Iraq.

"The resolution says we support the troops and oppose the escalation of the presence in Iraq," the Nevada Democrat said. "We're determined to give our troops and the American people the debate they deserve."

Reid's decision to stage a weekend vote causes headaches for at least four presidential candidates.

Sens. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, Chris Dodd, D-Connecticut, John McCain, R-Arizona, and Barack Obama, D-Illinois, are all scheduled to be on the campaign trail Saturday.

60. Duncan Hunter again
railing on about Jack Murtha. I googled to find a news story about the press conference today. Here is a bit taken from Sacbee.com:

Bush has asked Congress to approve $100 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Congressional Democrats are hoping to insert provisions that would make it harder for the administration to follow through on its plan to deploy an additional 21,500 combat troops to Iraq.
Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., who is leading the effort, has said the measure may be changed to require that any troops deployed must meet formal Army readiness standards.
Murtha also said the measure may be changed to prohibit any military action against Iran without specific congressional approval.

letters from soldiers who are for the surge and those who are against, but that one letter tells of how the divorce and suicide rates are up. And then you wonder what the hell are they telling these troops out there, and what is the fuck is the "mission". Very sad, all this talking and a stupid lunatic squawking about living in the WH, don't mess with my beautiful mind propaganda. Unbelievable waste of life of many Americans for what a stupid man and his sick sick mind of ideology.

73. Hensarling (R-TX) reads RNC fax talking points pretty well
Linking the Iraq war to 911 and even Osama bin Laden (wow!) and the "fundamental fight against radical Islamic soldiers" is where he does his schtick.

Does this twerp understand that the Shiites (who Bush seems to back at this point) are Islamic radicals to the Sunni...???
