Barack Obama is a class act - He reaches out to Hillary at Selma rally
snip --

But they did not join arms when the commemorative march attended by thousands got under way. Instead, Clinton held hands with her husband in their first joint appearance on the 2008 trail. Obama was several people down the line, his arms linked with the Rev. Joseph Lowery, who led the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery march at the request of Martin Luther King Jr.

Obama, who shed his coat and tie for the march, approached Clinton at one point and the two chatted for a few seconds before moving back to opposite sides of the street.

The two candidates sounded similar themes in their speeches. Both said the civil rights movement is not over and pointed to inequality in education, health care and the economy. Both criticized the Bush administration for failing to return Hurricane Katrina victims to their homes.

This whole Obama/Clinton "rivalry" is a media-driven concotion to drive a wedge within the Democratic base. The average American wants to talk about the issues facing their every day lives. On the other hand, the MSM wants to talk about Hillary's pantsuits and Obama's swimsuit. Complete petty crap. It is a ploy by the media to belittle the Democratic process.

Don't get suckered in.

3. He was very classy about it
and in Bill's speech, he mentioned both Hillary, Obama, and some of the other candidates several times without showing any favoritism. It's nice to see when "rivals" an unite for important issues!

4. I feel both candidates handled this situation very well.
I heard a little of Hillary's speech where she said "What happened in Selma made it possible for Barrack Obama to run for President of the United States, as well as Bill Richardson and ME!

I do believe this whole "confrontation" thing WAS made up by the media! All along I kept wondering why they wouldn't be able to just smile at one another and go on with their program. That's about what they did too.

I guess common consideration isn't newsworthy without the possible "confrontation fight!"

5. In the end, we are all on the same team, and want to see

the citizens of this country be about being the best that we all can be.

Great speeches from both. I enjoyed what each had to say immensely.

Obama is a first rate orator. That cannot be denied!
Hillary is a bit more hard edged, but she covered quite a bit of ground.

Obama discussing the fact that he is of the Joshua generation to the Moses generation that led the way was the most appropriate utterance considering the venue of all of what I heard today.

6. You're right. My God, he's good. And I like them all, and take pride in them all...
in all of their diversity and their shared vision, from the top three to the unannounced. In the spirit of the day, Lord deliver us from the burden we labor under, and lead us to a brighter day.
