Powerful new video interview with Scott Ritter (Truthdig, 3/20/07)
Truthdig has a 5-part public interview with Scott Ritter from last week as part of the promotion tour for his new book "Target: Iran." There's a total of about 50 minutes of material, and everyone really should watch the entire interview. Scott speaks with tremendous passion, knowledge, and integrity about a wide variety of critical topics, some of which I haven't seen discussed on DU before. If you thought his essays were intense, wait until you see him in action. Like they say, once a marine, always a marine... :)

Part I: Hillary Clinton, Saddam Hussein and Iraq
Part II: Can we get out of Iraq?
Part III: Korea, Iran and why there aren’t more Scott Ritters
Part IV: Nuclear weapons and the war on terror
Part V: A question from the audience

Seriously, every American should watch all 5 parts, it's Must See TV. I thought about trying to include some snippets from the transcript, but frankly there's just too much good material to choose from. I simply can't recommend watching it in its entirety strongly enough.

And read his book.

1. K&R& Bookmarked for later. I heard Ritter speak before the 2003 invasion -
He had everything right. If we are able to do anything to stave off an attack on Iran, I will credit Scott Ritter and Wesley Clark.

2. He was spot on for Iraq - not so much Iran - and is right-wing -hates Clinton & doesn;t
much like any Democratic Party left of center idea or candidate.

But again he is more correct with better experience, and better reasoning, on the mid-east than almost all others, so his video is a must watch. Just prepare yourself for slanted information, missing information, when he jumps on Democrats - especially the dump that I am sure is there for Hillary and Bill Clinton.

So now I go to watch the video! should be informative! :-)

3. Good points! (and gratuitous bump)

I don't think anyone will ever accuse Ritter of being the poster boy for the Democratic party (to put it mildly), he's a proud Republican. But to me, that makes his statements on our current policies towards the Middle East and Korea all the more compelling. No one can simply dismiss his information as "liberal bias."

For example: he describes why Iran simply isn't capable of building a nuclear device any time soon. Saying that country X is 10 years from having a bomb is a meaningless statement, it just means they're starting from scratch - all non-nuclear countries are 10 years away from having nuclear capability.
