Preacher during Church says "Don't vote for Obama"
"Vote for Hillary"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgtIqeV-6mk

paraphrases: "Black are not trustworthy because they abandoned Bill and Hillary for Obama the half White boy"

"Obama got a White mamma - now this ain't racist or anything praise the Lord"

This is popular on youtube and I thought it was relevant because it deals with three issues discussed here at a lot: Hillary vs. Obama, and political activities in churches, and the Black vote.

Should they lose their tax deductions?

1. Not with Republicans In Power
The Pubs want to face Hillary. Thus, anyone who takes any course of conduct that helps Hillary win the Dem primries will get a pass from the Pub's.

You don't seriously think Hillary will turn down campaign contributions from Richard Mellon Scaife, do you? (If so, I've got some swampland to sell you . . .)

2. Find a new church and let the preacher know why you left
Then call the IRS because church involvement in politics is against the Tax Exempt status.

3. Tax EXEMPT status, and yes, they should
When a church endorses or opposes a specific candidate, then by the letter of the law they should lose their tax exempt status, although it will never happen.

4. All examples of churches abusing their NFP status pale in comparison to Focus on the Family.
Just my two cents. Welcome to DU. :hi: MKJ

5. wrong wrong wrong
any minister who tells his congregants how to vote has just lost the tax deduction for his church, imho.

The 501c3 (religous) charter of my order expressly FORBIDS anyone in the Order to make political statements on behalf of the order. That means it is fine for me as an individual to rant and rave here, but when I done my robe and go before the altar to conduct Universal Worship, all talks of politics is OUT.

9. Does in my Order
haven't heard of one Cherag or Cheraga going against the wishes of our Pir in this matter. (Cherag/Cheraga=ministers, Pir=head of our Order)

8. I'.m confused....
Trying to follow the logic here....Obama got a white momma....Hillary got a white momma and a white daddy. So don't vote for Obama, vote for 100% white? Is that the message?

10. actually he's making a solid point
My understanding is he is saying that the Clintons have been loyal to the Black community, but now they are being "fickle" because Obama a "Black" man shows up. He goes on to claim that Blacks are racist because they supposedly favor Blacks with some White in them.

Politically he's making a fair point I think, but in an inappropriate manner and at an inappropriate place. In the end there is no way to keep "politics" out of "church" really, just like "politics" can't be kept entirely out of any non-profit organizations.

11. Is that real?
Seriously, the "preacher" looks alot like a black comedian that stars in a lot of comedy movies. I can't think of his name, but I get suspicious that this is a comedy scketch.

13. It's apparently real, but...
This is all just my uninformed opinion but personally I have my doubts about the sincerity of Pastor James David Manning.

Here's the ATLAH website. http://atlah.org/

It seems awfully flashy and commercial for a church website, in my opinion.

Then there's this strange page on another website.

http://emailmakesmoney.com/photo.html

It offers "A Prosperity Prayer For Our Finances". If you scroll down about 1/3 of the page you'll find a picture of Manning with a link to atlah.org. Below that are various other links, including other ministries, a picture of Oprah Winfrey linking to some sort of get rich quick page, and a banner ad stating "I'm so sure you'll make $$$, I'll pre-build your downline for you!"

16. That church should lose their tax-exempt status IMMEDIATELY.
Nothing pisses me off more than when churches proselytize politics from the pulpit.
