Obama THIS WEEK video now up on the internet at link below
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=&page=1

Obama THIS WEEK Video now on web - On Social Security at 15:14 begins 3 straight "everything is on the table" responses and on the only direct question on partial privatization (the Bush approach) he appears - to me - to duck partial privatization - and saying that privatization - which I take to mean total privatization - is not on the table (at 15:41). But again partial privatization was asked directly only once, and individual accounts were not asked about.

So I suggest the next person to interview change from "privatization" to "individual accounts" and we will see what we will get.

The video is also interesting in his apparent rejection/non-support of single payer and his appearing to be leaving an insurance company system for health care - or at least not saying anything thing about single payer when given the opportunity - instead talking about a $75 B cost savings in our $2 trillion health system (Hillary already had that covered before Obama via health claim processing changes and central database for records). Obama seems to be as advertised - a small step conservative - and I am still waiting for Hillary to prove she is not choosing that same small step conservative route to the nomination and the Whitehouse.

2. I love How the Hillarites
Try to slant. Like they tried to Slant that he was going to privatize Social Security last week. He came out and stated his view on ABC and he was against privatization. I love when he turns them into lies. :woohoo:

5. Did he say he was against restructuring and social security reforms?
If he didn't, then he is for them.. He's an attorney. Their use of words or the lack of them have meaning.

10. BUT, he said : All Options are on the table..
Edited on Mon May-14-07 12:12 PM by Tellurian
he may be against privatization but the Republicans are FOR it!

Hillary has made it CLEAR, there are no options on the table, except to strengthen the Social Security treasury, meaning increasing the amt put into the SST.

No Privatization. You can try to slant all you want. The question was asked and answered.

16. Obama on ethanol told an interviewer "listen to my words" - and that is what one
should do -

and the words did not include the code word partial privatization, nor did they include no individual accounts tied to a cutback in Social Security.

Now "no to privatization" may mean that - but I want to hear him say no to partial privatization, and then on the follow-up confirm that he means no individual accounts tied to a cutback in Social Security.

Since the question was exactly the question I wanted asked - Are you for partial privatization -
and the answer did not repeat the phrase "partial privatization" - I find the answer odd - and want a bit more clarity.

15. he did answer straight up - he's impressive - but the answers are not as
radical as I want - if you call single payer national health and no wage cap on social security radical.

18. I saw that you posted such a video - but I was at work and this client forbids - via
system controls - the terminals accessing any "blogs" - which DU past it's front page and associated journals is so considered (I always have to search for which journal Elad has stuck latest thread listings - but when I found it today as luck would have it your flame post was one of the 10).

I do see it in the first 3 pages of GD-P - could you post the link -

4. The video seems to no longer be available.. papau..
Just for the record. Hillary has stated unequivocally, Social Security will remain just as it is, untouched with no move towards partial privitization.

When researching Obama's voting record. He advocates restructing and reforming SS with the addition of a savings plan.

7. You need to Listen to him on ABC
Edited on Mon May-14-07 09:34 AM by Ethelk2044
That is the Slant the Hillarites try to give. He stated yesterday he is against any privatization of Social Security. Maybe you need to go to ABC Website and listen again before you try to slant. He proved you wrong again this is an out and out lie if you ever heard one.

19. I agree that past Obama speeches that included a "savings plan" in SS reform are troubling - that's
why I want to see where he is today - with the words individual savings accounts in his response.

I am a bit amazed so many think that asking for this on DU is flaming.

It may be stupid on my part as "no to privatization" may be obvious "asked and answered" to most and I am just dense - but it is not flaming.

6. Obama - the only honest (electable) candidate in the whole bunch.
It might cost him the election, but at least he's not afraid to say how he feels.

BTW, where's Hillary? Every day I read about Obama because he's somewhere talking to some large group of people.
