C-Span I -- Rules Committee - Lobby Disclosure Act
I find the arguments the Republicans are bringing up to be legitimate.
Prohibit members from taking money from their campaigns when they retire. Prohibit public universities from paying for travel/meals for members. Already prohibited for private universities.
It does not provide for enforcement of the rules.
Conyers questions the delay on passing the bill when the Senate passed their version back in January.
Although I normally detest the closeted Dreier, the GOP made some good arguments. I thought Lobbying reform was something the Dems would be really strong on, but it would seem their screams about it prior to the election have now dwindled to barely a wimper.
Lobbying reform needs to happen. There is no excuse to allow questionable and unethical practices to continue.
