Maybe I'm just getting far to cynical in my old age....
But that woman teaming up with Buick, Pontiac and GMC and her campaign to collect "a million thanks" for out troops just seems a little like bit disengenuous, a publicity stunt, if you will...

And there is no doubt Shauna Fleming is behind the effort...

Just go to her website to see or watch her commercial sponsored by the car companies....

She collects the letters and then raises money by selling knick knacks and T-Shirts to pay for the postage...

Really, when you look at it, what is she doing...

It's painless to send a form letter to the troops to let them know we are so behind them that we can't even afford a stamp to mail it on out own...

Perhaps if she were collecting money to buy Kevlar or to pay for internet access to popular sites such YouTube that the Pentagon can't seem to find the money to fund, that might seem just a little more genuine to me...

It smacks of a contest we had back when I was in Junior High...

We all had to fill out Care Free sugarless gum cards and the school that collected the most chits would get a "concert" played at their school...

Yea, you guessed it...

Bubblegum music...

Shauna Fleming: making patriotism even more shallow than it all ready has become...

1. I'm with you
Every time I see that ad I wonder how bubbly Shauna would be if she were told her taxes were going up to make sure the troops have the equipment they need and so that the wounded vets get all the medical attention they deserve.

I really can't believe those "thank you" letters mean a whole lot to the troops.
