Al Gore:
The
Conscience
of the
Democratic Party

He's eloquent, passionate, relentless, undaunted. The first political figure to oppose the Iraq war, Al Gore is also the lead champion in the fight against global warming, a passionate defender of our Constitution, and an unyielding voice against the Bush Administration's abuse of power. Given his unmatched experience and leadership on issues of moral imperative, Gore is increasingly seen as Democrats' best bet to win back the White House.

2. You don't draft winners and you respect his wishes
And the man is smart enough to know what he is doing and wants to do. So sad some still cannot respect him for it to even know what it is he is talking about in seeing what he needs to see. It isn't pom poms for him, it is DRAFTING OURSELVES to now do what we are responsible to do as citizens of this nation to start being the self-governing nation we are supposed to be. Al Gore is doing a GREAT THING right now and all some can do is continue the same status quo tactics. Drafting him into what exactly? The same putrid system he writes about in his book? Just what do those behind all of this intend to do about that first? And I don't care if all the anklebiters pile on me, because from where I sit, you are now all missing the big picture. Al Gore is beyond presidential at this point and will forever be remembered as a great man who changed the course of history regardless of anything else. And he will do what he believes is necessary and what is in his heart, that much I know from hearing his own words and seeing his actions. Too bad some don't have the same energy to talk about and truly support his environmental endeavors and the service he is now doing for this country and the world unless he has a title in front of his name. He will always be a President to me and I respect (especially based on my experiences in 2004) that he more than likfely does not intend to run in 2008. I then intend to spend my time supporting what matters, not pipedreams that falsely get hopes up and give me an excuse to sit the important issues out. And should he ever see that which would make him regain his faith enough to try it again, you can bet your ass I would be standing right next to him. But now it is time to come together for this planet and I truly believe that transcends these political games. Now go ahead and attack my opinion because you are all so tolerant, I don't really give a damn anymore and have no intention of engaging it.

11. You tried to draft him for 2004 after he endorsed Dean for president
Gore was a winner in 2004 and the rest of us respected his wishes then. Gore has said he hasn't made a Shermanesque statement because he hasn't ruled it out for all time. If he hasn't shut the door this time and there's no reason for us to slap it shut for him. He speaks truths that are uncomfortable for those in power and profiting from the way things are. We needed him 2000 and we need him even more today.

14. And to those who say I tried to draft him after he endorsed Howard Dean in 2004:
Edited on Tue May-29-07 03:07 PM by RestoreGore
I did not try to draft him, because DRAFTS DO NOT HAPPEN IN THIS SYSTEM. I tried to get write in votes for him in states that allowed such, but once John Kerry was selected that effort was over. I also tried via petition to have a constitutional amendment regarding federal election fraud get to Congress to safeguard against what happened in 2000 from happening again which did have thousands of signatures on it (including Ted Rall's and others BTW) from those who also believed in a remedy considering none was given by the state of Florida or this Congress in response to the total dereliction of duty in counting the electoral votes in 2001. That in case you don't understand IS NOT A DRAFT, but was on my part an attempt at "restoring" what I believe to this day was stolen from this country.

However, I have never bothered this man the way people are now harrassing him daily. I didn't follow him around, stick banners in his face, make up silly songs and silly videos, or state that he would be forced in any way to do anything, and he never asked ME to quit either, because bascially he believes in the freedom of this Democracy, and more than likely already knew it wasn't going to happen anyway... And he was right again. So the fact that he hasn't stopped this yet means nothing regarding him running or not running.

Again, I did not harass him, I took it to the party RESPONSIBLE out of a sense of moral outrage which was not shared by any other Gore "support" site at that time I guess because it wasn't "politically expedient" to stand up for the Constitution. And I like so many Americans who dared to speak up was summarily IGNORED by this corrupted corporate warmongering Congress that didn't give a fart in space about doing what was right, and I believe on the whole still doesn't. And it was the illumination that hit me like a ton of bricks that this was never going to be, put together with the fact that an attempt to even have a few superdelegates (only about ten) pledge their vote to him in a sign of solidarity at the convention that was also ignored, along with being shunned that year in regards to them even giving him a tribute that I had requested from the convention committee and requested other Gore sites to ask for for him at the Convention which they ignored and which the convention committee WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH that I saw the truth. But of course, he is "popular" now, so he is worthy of everyone's support. :sarcasm:

It was then that the realization also hit me about how utterly FIXED this all is and how naive I had been, and showed me that this was not a system that believed in Democracy and it was the end of any effort that I then believed was simply a spinning of wheels. It was also then that I realized that Mr. Gore is indeed a good decent man of his word and that he truly does know better than me or any of YOU what is the best course for him to now follow. And after that experience it is clear to me now why he is not planning on running and I too learned a valuable lesson about respecting a man's words and allowing him to do it his way.

You can berate that if you wish, because as I stated, I don't give a damn anymore after being called a crackpot that would fade into oblivion by members on other Gore sites simply for supporting what was right. So be it. I am far beyond a mere status quo draft now, and I respect his words and believe them wholeheartedly, and I am on to helping Mr. Gore save this planet. So please in the future if you are going to mention what I tried to do, at least tell the truth.

9. I'm not sure about the "Honorable"
I mean, I'm not sure it goes far enough.

What about, "The Magnificent Al Gore"?
"The, Like, Totally Awesome Al Gore"?
"Oh President, My President, Al Gore"?
