How Mike Huckabee helped free a rapist who then killed at least one woman
Arkansas Times
By Murray S. Waas

“I signed the papers because the governor wanted Dumond paroled. I was thinking the governor was working for the best interests of the state.”
—Ermer Pondexter, ex-member of the board of pardons and paroles

New sources, including an advisor to Gov. Mike Huckabee, have told the Arkansas Times that Huckabee and a senior member of his staff exerted behind-the-scenes influence to bring about the parole of rapist Wayne Dumond, who Missouri authorities say raped and killed a woman there shortly after his parole.

Well, he may be the pro rape/murder candidate but at least he doesn't believe we're descended from apes.

3. Actually,
Huckabee was questioned time and time again by the Arkansas Times for his reasons for granting clemency, not only Drumond, but several other Death Row/Lifers and he never gave a response. He always sent them some arrogant letter as a response. (I'll see if I can find a link for one of them somewhere.)

The odd thing about it: Upon further review, all of these men professed to have a literal "Come to Jesus" meeting. They all professed to accept Jesus and suddenly all sins and consequences are forgiven. The Southern Baptist Convention (which is in an ordained minister under) wouldn't even do that for homosexuals. Quite interesting. We, Arkansans, have never been able to get our lame ass media to dig to the bottom of it, or anything else for that matter.

revolving door on prisons. Read the entire article. Some people in Arkansas hated Clinton so much they worked to get a rapist released because the victim was a distant Clinton relation!

6. This whole deal was a FReeper project.
I remember this story well. Freepers hated Clinton. Wayne Dumond raped a local girl near Forrest City, Arkansas, whose daddy was both (a) rich and (b) a distant relative of Clinton. The local corrupt sheriff -- after catching Dumond -- privarely showed some people Dumond's testicles (or portions thereof) that he, the sheriff, had supposedly removed as sort of non-judicial punishment inflicted at the behest of the rich daddy of the wronged girl. (The sheriff was later convicted of a bunch of stuff himself and went to prison.) Meanwhile, Dumond gets convicted and goes to prison. Next, the Freepers hear about the story and -- because the sheriff is a relative of Clinton's -- decide that the Dumond must be innocent, just another victim of Clinton's endless murderous rages.

IOW (in Freeperthink), Dumond = anti-sheriff and Clinton = pro-sheriff, therefore Dumond = innocent victim of Clinton, the anti-Christ.

So the Freepers start a letter and calling campaign to get the "innocent" Wayne Dumond out of prison. By then, Baptist preacher and fat (no more) wingnut, Mike Huckabee has become Ark. governor and is anxious to please the salivating knuckle-draggers of the right wing (the NATIONAL right wing, not the Arkansas right wing, which KNEW Dumond was an animal) and the best way to do that is to jump on the Clinton-as-Satan bandwagon.

So, as an intentional slap in the face of Bill Clinton, and as an example of the way Republicans govern -- by personalities, not principles -- Huckabee pardons Dumond, who leaves Arkansas for Missouri where he promptly rapes and murders two more women.

Just another story of what happens when ANYBOdy listens to those stupid Freepers.

7. I thought it was a lame charge against Dukakis
and it's a lame charge still, even against Huckabee.

If you want to eliminate parole altogether, then argue that. But the fact that some parolees go on to commit crimes is not the fault of the governor.

8. Old news around here
Old Huckster let LOTS of murderers/rapists out. One murderer was the stepson of a woman that worked in the Governor's office. How convenient!

Huckabee...SOFT ON VIOLENT CRIME!

BTW, I don't think he let any drug offenders out, but I could be wrong (there were so many).
