http://www.covenantwithblackamerica.com/

Poll Results          Before After

Senator Barack Obama          64.0% 46.1% = -17.9%
Senator John Edwards          11.2% 24.3% = +13.1%
Congressman Dennis Kucinich          2.5% 13.3% = +10.8%
Senator Hillary Clinton          18.6% 12.3% = -6.3%
Senator Mike Gravel          0.4% 1.9%
Senator Joe Biden          0.9% 1.1%
Governor Bill Richardson          0.8% 0.9%
Senator Christopher Dodd          1.5% 0%

Kucinich also did quite well. Obama lost a lot of support as did Clinton.

in what I thought was the best appearance I have seen from him in any of the debates.

35. Dennis did REALLY well last night and I again must say
that it's too bad this country is so narcisstic (sp) it hinges on people's appearance and not on their words. Dennis has some really good ideas and they are well worth listening to.

I sincerely hope that he gets a cabinet appointment as I think he has a lot of talent, but sadly this country won't elect a short white guy even if he has a beautiful wife.

43. That's not really what it's about.
Nixon was short and not so good looking. LBJ was really goofy looking.

These campaigns, in my opinion, are about more than just policy positions or even appearances. The process tells us who can recruit and organize an effective team, who can control their image effectively, and who can get people to trust them enough with their money. DK may be great on policy, but he is not succeeding in the other qualifications for the job.

31. Oops I take it back
Kucinich's numbers weren't even shown. On rereading the article, it's obvious the writer prefers Obama, and was making a case for him even though his popularity appeared to take a dive after the Howard University forum.

8. I was surprised at the Edwards support!
. I was surprised at the amount of support Edwards seemed to be getting!
He even had more chants of his name in the beginning than Obama.I watched the audience reaction carefully for each and it was interesting to see the skepticism that some candidates received.Obama wasn't nearly as well received as I expected. But I think all the candidates except Gravel did okay.Gravel attacked his opponents entirely too much and seemed loony.Richardson was a little weak but overall good show!

38. Small Correction For You... The Name Is LUNTZ!
I'm not one of his fannies, but he does do his work very methodically. I've watched him many many times on C-Span as a guest and other programs he contributes to on C-Span.

Not my cup of tea per se, but from what I've seen lately... he calls them as he sees them and I'm not trying to bump his ego either! He IS a Repuke, that much I know.

46. If Luntz's lips are moving, you can be sure he is trying to hypnotize you.
That guy's career is built on manipulating people. He may not have invented it, but he has raised the bar to a whole new level. Every word he uses has been carefully tested and screened to have the desired effect, which is to make Republicans look good, and it isn't based on logic or reason or even commn sense.

47. Oh - well here's something
about last night's debate and it doesn't mention Obama:

Winners, Losers, and Other Debate Observations

Winners

Former Senator John Edwards, yet again, has demonstrated he grasps the issues as well or better than anyone in the race. He was particularly impressive in responding to a question on HIV/AIDS. He called for increased federal funding for a cure for HIV/AIDS and provide Medicare coverage for testing and treatment. He would appoint a redevelopment czar for New Orleans. It's too bad the punditocracy is trying to make this a two-person race.

Every day that Hilary walks off the stage without a major flub is a good thing. She didn't hurt herself and she helped herself when she noted that if HIV/AIDS were hitting white women aged 18-25 the way it is hitting Black America, then there would be hell to pay. That was an inconvenient truth that too many people want to overlook.

Joe Biden showed his willingness to be candid on issues. His comment on the need for community leadership to confront the men in the community about the need to wear condoms and the need for women to know that they can say no in response to a question on HIV/AIDS drew gasps in the room. Some will, no doubt, see his comment as condescending and I can see why (there's nothing like a White Senator telling Black folk what to do), but he's right and people need to be real about this issue. Too many Black men are being sexually irresponsible.
