BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Formally kicking off his campaign for governor, Republican U.S. Rep. Bobby Jindal cast aside any talk Monday of his congressional colleague and previously outspoken supporter, U.S. Sen. David Vitter, who is enmeshed in a sex scandal. Vitter, R-Metairie, had been vociferous in his backing of Jindal for this fall's election for governor and was expected to be a companion to Jindal on the campaign trail, helping to drum up support. ~snip~

U.S. Rep. Bobby Jindal maintained his silence about U.S. Sen. David Vitter, an ardent Jindal supporter, during Jindal's gubernatorial campaign kickoff visit to Shreveport this morning. ~snip~ Vitter, who is at the center of a sex scandal, endorsed Jindal in Feburary. He also supported Jindal's 2003 bid for governor. ~snip~ Jindal ignored reporters' questions about his take on Vitter's situation but spoke enthusiastically about his goals to change Louisiana for the better.
