I just watched the AFLCIO/MSNBC Dem debates.

I couldn’t watch them live because I was having a root canal at my local dentistry college. I reluctantly followed some previous remarks and have to agree that Denis Kucinicth won the debate tonight and Edwards came in second.

Hilary presented a blusterously performance that I will never trust. Obama was still too green for me.

I will not ever relate to (bankruptcy bill) Biden. His foreign policy might make sense to some, but I can’t get past his capitulation to obvious campaign contributions from (credit card) lending institutions in his home state.

My growing belief is that if our contenders are so strong, then they should stay in the jobs that do us the most good. Of course, we then have to review their judgment and determine if they did or are doing US good after all.

Gravel and Edwards do not currently hold any office. Gravel was not represented here tonight. (It appears to be about filing an application to appear before the AFLCIO. I don’t know the details so I can’t speculate.)

My (little) money is on John Edwards. I think that he gets me more that any of the other candidates as fine as they are in their own right. I’m tipped over by Edwards because we don’t have to lose a sitting Democratic Senator, Governor or Congressman in the process AND I like his policies. Most of that is because he has explained and presented his policies. (I sometimes wish that he was Black or a woman or both. It doesn’t hurt that he’s not an ugly white guy.)

That’s my take.

1. I didn't see the whole program ,but I agee with you on Edwards
He did well but missed a few prime opportunities. Kucinich is my idealogical prime choice but Edwards would be a great alternative.

2. Kucinich was brilliant tonight
Wow, a root canal and then the debate. Sounds like you had quite a day!

Frankly, some of the responses I heard from the candidates were just about as painful as a root canal.

Kucinich was about the only one who impressed me tonight. And where the heck was Mike Gravel? Was he "uninvited"?

(Sigh)...every time I watch these debates here lately, all I can think of is how I wish Bobby Kennedy Jr. would get in the race.

Certainly would improve the quality of the debates and challenge the others to do better, work harder, give more specific solutions. Now THAT would be must-see TV, at least for me!

3. Yes and no.
Did you see the Daily Show Tuesday night about the wind farms off wherever and the Kennedy family's objections to them? It would spoil their view and yet save them and countless others the cost of energy. RFK is not looking so good to me in this light. I would like to hear him justify his position as this was presented by MSM via TDS.

4. Missed the Daily Show...
...but heard they were going to do a segment on the whole Cape cod wind farm project, fully expected it to be an attack on the Kennedys.

Republicans *love* jumping on any bandwagon that affords them an opportunity to make the Kennedys look like hypocrites; what strikes me as ironic is that the GOP is supposed to be the party which defends private property rights, yet they are so quick to label RFK a NIMBY.

To double the irony, I now see so many of RFK Jr.'s fellow Dems and Greens getting in bed with the Republicans on the Cape wind project.
Q - Since when do these people agree with each other on anything?
A - Since they discovered that Kennedy-bashing can be so much fun!

All kidding aside, RFK Jr.'s reasons for opposing Cape wind are a bit more complex than "not-in-my-backyard," but the mainstream media is most likely not going to be very helpful in giving you the whole story.

His position has been misrepresented, misreported and intentionally distorted over and over again to the point where it has become a sort of urban legend.

What the MSM won't tell you is that RFK Jr. DOES SUPPORT a wind farm off Cape cod, but says the proposed location off Nantucket would do the environment more harm than good. He feels the best location for the wind farm would be off nearby Otis Air Force Base instead of Nantucket Sound.

RFK Jr.'s specific reasons for taking this position on the Cape Wind project were made in a Dec. 2005 Op-Ed piece he wrote for the New York Times:
"An Ill wind Off Cape cod"

Hope this is helpful...

I've been bothered by this issue with RFK so I appreciate the clarification. For your information, I'm not influenced by Republican talking points. I think for myself as most DUers think for themselves. No kidding aside.

6. Thanks for taking time to read the op-ed
BTW, Wes Clark ROCKS! Love him dearly.

Just had to try and get the correct info out there regarding RFK's position on the Cape Wind project, because it's so important.

DU'ers are are smart lot indeed. They are known to think for themselves and tend to distrust the MSM...hey, that's why I'm here, too!:)
