Poll: Majority mistrustful of upcoming Iraq report
(LM: The most interesting part of this story is that a majority distrust this report before it’s even been released, and that the poll was taken before it was widely known that the report will actually be written inside the White House. That certainly adds to its credibility.

It's also noteworthy that almost three quarters of the people surveyed say the report won't change their minds. So we are waiting for a report than most people won't believe and that will change few opinions.

Tony Snow made a good decision. It is time to clean out the desk and leave. I would not want to be the spokesperson stuck defending this hogwash report.)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A majority of Americans don't trust the upcoming report by the Army's top commander in Iraq on the progress of the war and even if they did, it wouldn't change their mind, according to a new poll.<snip>

…according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Thursday, 53 percent of people polled said they suspect that the military assessment of the situation will try to make it sound better than it actually is. <snip>

The poll indicates that most of America's mind is made up about the war -- 72 percent said the report will have no effect on their view of the war.

1. Trust has to be earned and WH has not shown us that they can be trusted!

2. Hope you're not expecting evidence of trustworthiness...
Assuming that I were waiting for truth from the White House, I would flip the egg timer over just once, give it three minutes, and then say "hell, it's not gonna happen..." and assume afterward that every word emanating from the White House is a lie.

3. He'll Make the Report to Congress
Then he'll make more of the same threats to Congress that he did last time,
and Congress will pretend to believe every word of the report.
He'll demand an even bigger surge, and they'll cave again.
