Sounds just as silly as implying that Edwards should drop out so that Obama can beat Clinton, doesn't it?

May the best candidate win.

6. The problem
Unfortunately, I used to think that Edwards supporters would favor Obama, and vice versa. But I'm begun to see that Edwards supporters might actually prefer Clinton as their backup choice.

21. My point is it's not unanimous
It's not necessarily that roughly 60% of Democrats that don't support Clinton would break heavily for either Edwards or Obama. However, I do think that generally Obama and Edwards voters are more alligned. It would also seem like Dodd and Biden voters would prefer HRC.

8. In the interest of Peace in Our Time...
I'll drop out. Admittedly, I am not running, and if I was, I would expect the laughter to be appropriately deafening, but never let it be said I will shrink from standing in the breach.

Hence, I formally announce I am leaving the 2008 presidential race.

Hey, it's just as absurd as the suggestion in the original post!

10. For My Part....

I wouldn't mind if Edwards, Obama, and Clinton all got together and figured out some sort of arrangement where the contest is resolved and we can focus all our resources on crushing the GOP.

Policy-wise, there isn't much at stake between the 3--I wonder what the real disagreements are sometimes. Given this, it seems wasteful if 100 Million or so goes into this horse race where nothing truly vital (except who will be the candidate) is at stake. There are less differences between them than between Bush (the establishment's pick) and McCain (the maverick challenger) back in 2000.

33. I grant you are right, no one has voted yet, but
impressions and first impressions and from the way the polling has gone these past several weeks hrc is gaining strength as her negatives go down and her favorable ratings increase. Obama's numbers have begun to slide. But I will agree, no vote has been taken and may the better person win the nomination.....and whomever it tis, we all get behind OUR candidate....

I do thank you
Ben David

16. Not really.
Every week there's a new ridiculous Edwards story that makes Democrats in general look bad. He should drop out for the interest of the party, even if HRC is the one who gets the nomination. He's hurting the party. Fox, CNN, and the rest smear Edwards not because they are afraid of him, but because it's easy, and they can use it to generalize about all Democrats.

You're quite welcome to support the corporate candidate; I certainly won't.

31. ***crickets***
Obama will drop out before Edwards ever will. Obama's negatives are rising daily, now that he proudly wears the corporate whore label, his stock will plummet in the polls. Obama is being reworked as a Republican retread, because they don't have a candidate that can win. Edwards is the one to watch that will give Hillary a run for her money.

32. He proudly wears that label, and his supporters proudly defend it.
 Go figure; it reminds me of bush's backwash.

If any other Democratic candidate had this kind of backing, questions would be raised, at the very least... and, can you imagine the attacks from a certain candidate's supporters?
