Mark Warner to say in about a week what his political plans are!

Politicians and party activists throughout Virginia are waiting on Warner, 52, to decide whether he will seek the U.S. Senate seat that will become available when Republican Sen. John W. Warner retires in 2009. The two men are not related.

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, who also attended, said he is pleased that Democrats don't have to look hard for qualified and willing candidates. "There were years when we couldn't even get Democrats to run," he said.

Halfway along the route of that river city's 37th annual Labor Day parade, Warner, sweat soaking through the front and back of his blue dress shirt, leaned into a pickup truck and shook hands with Charles Byers, who urged him to run statewide in 2008.

"I've got the itch," Warner said, smiling back at Byers.

4. If he were to win, VA would have two Democratic senators.
That would be so unreal?!

3. I think he'll run
and it's good to see a politician who isn't so ambitious that he makes a quest for President instead of helping us win a key seat in a red state.

6. So Much For VP
I don't understand why he didn't run for President. Mind you, I don't know a lot about him, but it seemed like a Governor from the South, especially from a state that's more red than blue, would make a good candidate.

Warner/Sebelius - would that not have been a winning ticket?

Ah well, I'll keep hoping for Edwards/Obama and for Warner to serve the US in the Senate.

7. His name is a real advantage here
Some of the dimmer fundies might vote for him thinking that it's the same Warner they've had all along.

8. Can't say he's a good-looking man, in all honesty, but the big D next to his
name makes up for it.
