Lou Dobbs' substitute Kitty Pilgrim says Republicans Still "In Control Of The Senate"
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 11:25 AM by antiimperialist
Lou Dobbs couldn't make it to the show last night, so he let Kitty Pilgrim take over.
Here is what she said:

In another setback for the GOP, Senator Pete Domenici tonight is announcing his retirement. Senator Domenici will step down next year for health reasons. His retirement could make it harder for Republicans to stay in control of the Senate.

Contact Pilgrim, but be polite. Calling someone an "idiot", for example, is inappropriate, and something that only Moveon.org would do.

Here is a list of alternatives I recommend, from the Roget's New Millenium thesaurus:

Main Entry: idiot
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: stupid
Synonyms: ass, blockhead, boob, booby, cretin, dimwit, donkey, dork, dumb ox, dumbbell, dunce, dunderhead, fool, halfwit, ignoramus, imbecile, jackass, jerk, kook*, meathead, mental defective, moron, nincompoop, ninny*, nitwit, pinhead*, pointy head, simpleton, stupid, tomfool, twit*, yo-yo
Antonyms: genius, intellectual
Notes: an idiot is a stupid person with a mental age below three years, while a moron is a stupid person with a mental age of between seven to twelve years.

1. I just can't get past the name "Kitty Pilgrim". It precludes my taking her seriously.

2. Maybe you haven't noticed
but they do control the senate.

On every important vote they split the Dems and win the day. That's what I call controlling the senate.

5. Not true. The moderate wing of the Democratic party screws things up often
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 11:30 AM by antiimperialist
maybe you are overestimating the number of times that Democrats in the senate agree on an issue.

9. Prior to 2006, Bush got everything he wanted with no resistance.
The Dems would filibuster some horrid appointees, but Bush never had to veto any legislation. We're frustrated with the Dems' inability to turn back Bush's security measures and financing Iraq, but his ownership of the legislative branch has ended. The SCHIP legislation would never have gone to Bush for a veto prior to this session.

We will not end the erosion until we control the White House. Let's not screw that up.

Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 11:39 AM by daninthemoon
you that the republicans are not still fully in control of the senate? It may have been a slip up, but I think it describes the current situation very well. Their measures come up and pass on a whim. Ours don't even get to a vote half the time.

6. It would be an idiotic comment, if it weren't true
Democrats have the numbers in the Senate, but they certainly do not hold the power, not with so many Democratic Senators eagerly rubberstamping the Republicker agenda.

11. From what goes on and what the American Peole see
For all intents and purposes the GOP is in charge in Senate.

If I did not know better, I would think they are still in charge.
They get themselves on TV. They frame the issues.

Last week every days, The Democrats failed, or The GOP
once again blocked the Democrats from.....

17. It's 49 to 49, 2 independents.
And there is a lot to be said for having the President's veto pen on your side, not to mention the V.P. as President of the Senate.

20. "something that only Moveon.org would do"....
I take unmbrage at that remark...MoveON.org is doing what our elected majority ISN'T doing...raising issues and making some noise and holding people accountable....

But go ahead and spread the rethuglican meme as much as you want...
