Will the GOP election theft machine do it again in 2008?
by Bob Fitrakis and Harvey Wasserman
http://www.freepress.org/
With record low approval ratings for the Bush/Cheney regime and the albatross of an unpopular war hanging from the GOP's neck, do you think that a Democratic presidential candidate will win the White House, get us out of Iraq, and end our long national nightmare?

Think again – the mighty election theft machine Karl Rove used to steal the US presidency in 2000 and 2004 may be under attack, but it is still in place for the upcoming 2008 election.

With his usual devious mastery, Rove has seized upon the national outrage sparked by his electoral larceny and used it as smokescreen while he makes the American electoral system even MORE unfair, and even EASIER to rig. Thus the administration has fired federal attorneys when they would not participate in a nationwide campaign to deny minorities and the poor their access to the polls. It has spent millions of taxpayer dollars to install electronic voting machines that can be "flipped" with a few keystrokes. And under the guise of "reforming" our busted electoral system, it is setting us up for another presidential theft in 2008.

1. Are you watching tweedle dee, tweedle dum and the 7 dwarfs right now?
I swear -- if ONE of them can win an election on that quaint notion of 'votes' alone, we have officially entered an alternate universe.

6. I am telling you. That the republicans under estimate the public
this time. There is no way in hell that they will take another election being stolen laying down. You can bet on that.

9. Nothing has changed
those machines are still out there for the most part. Looking at the current crop of GOP candidates, what idiot would actually vote for that, and Diebold comes to mind.

The only way I think. can gum up the system is those who are voting on these machines use the option, to "write" in the name of your candidate. I can't see how they can flip votes of those who actually write them in, and they can't claim the intent of the voter wasn't clear.

I dont think they thought about that, when writing the software, people rarely use the write in option. It may be a way to prove the case about these machines being rigged.

11. What a joke - Bob Fitrakis and his "Free Press" helps Bradblog kill Holt - and he has the hutzpa to
ask "Will the GOP election theft machine do it again in 2008?"

Well Bob, if they do "do it again" it will in no small part be because you enabled them to do so by killing the mandated audits in the Holt Bill.

12. They will certainly try.
But you might have noticed their usual fascist election-rigging shenanigans didn't work so well for them last time around. '08 won't necessarily be a repeat of '06 but it still might be more election than these assclowns can steal.
