2008: DEMOCRATS v REPUBLICANS ... It's A Clear Choice

TWO-FRONT WAR

Defend The Constitution Against All Enemies ...

1. Foreign (Fighting Terrorism Abroad)

-- "refocus our resources on fighting terrorist networks and on addressing trouble spots around the world that threaten our national security."

-- "the president's policy has us in Iraq with no end in sight. But the Iraqis need an end in sight to get their political house in order, and we need an end in sight so we can get back to fighting terrorist networks."

-- "setting a target date for redeployment, so that we can direct our resources to defeating the terrorist organizations that seek to harm this country."

Sen. Russ Feingold

-- "We cannot win a war against the terrorists if we’re on the wrong battlefield,” Obama said. “America must urgently begin deploying from Iraq and take the fight more effectively to the enemy’s home by destroying al-Qaida’s leadership along the Afghan-Pakistan border, eliminating their command and control networks and disrupting their funding.”

Sen. Barack Obama

2. Domestic (Fighting Fascism At Home)

-- "the Constitution of the United States belongs to the American people, not to the Bush administration. It is our responsibility as Senators and Congressmen to stand up and fight for it."

Sen. Chris Dodd

-- "the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act gives us a chance to reverse one of the Bush Administration’s many assaults on our civil liberties."

Sen. Chris Dodd

-- "I will not vote to give a single new police power to this administration. I voted against the PATRIOT Act when it first passed, and I remain even more opposed to this legislation today. I urge my colleagues to vote against the PATRIOT Act reauthorization, to stand up for our Constitution, to stand up for our Bill of Rights, to remember the long struggle that was instrumental in establishing those liberties."

Rep. Dennis Kucinich

BROKE-BACK WAR

Defend The Institution Of Marriage ...

-- Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney is launching a radio ad touting the strength of his opposition to gay marriage. "Defending marriage is the right thing to do."

Gov. Mitt Romney

-- As president, he promised to defend marriage as a "sacred union" between one man and one woman.

Rep. Tom Tancredo

-- "I pledge to defend the bond of marriage."

Sen. Sam Brownback

-- Keyes voiced support for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, and said he would defend the natural family. "We have to restore the understanding of what marriage is."

Alan Keyes

-- "I firmly believe that marriage is one of the most important social institutions we have and that it is central to promoting family values and raising children in a healthy environment. It is for this reason that I cosponsored and voted in favor of H.J. Res. 88 (Musgrave-CO), which proposes an amendment to the U.S. Constitution declaring that marriage in the United States shall consist solely of the union of a man and a woman."

Rep. Duncan Hunter

5. Democrats neither support nor defend the Constitution
If they did, Bush and Cheney would be behind bars today after being prosecuted for crimes following their impeachment.

6. Oppose Mukasey: No Waterboarding, No Dictatorship

I urge you to oppose the nomination of Judge Michael Mukasey for Attorney General of the United States.

In his sworn testimony before the Senate, Judge Mukasey refused to acknowledge that waterboarding is torture, even though it was used for torture by the Spanish Inquisition, the Japanese in World War II, and Cambodia's Khmer Rouge.

Mukasey also insists the President can ignore the law to wiretap American citizens without a warrant.

Mukasey has thus proven his contempt for the Geneva Conventions, the Rule of Law, and the Constitution itself.

If you do not oppose Judge Mukasey, you will become complicit in the Bush-Cheney policies of waterboarding and warrantless wiretapping, and thereby violate your sworn oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

7. Not entirely true.
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 11:35 AM by mmonk
We just have more that support the constitution than they do. The republicans have a make up probably around 99% against the constitution. But clearly, we have opponents to the constitution and freedom and human rights in our party as well.

8. American Fascism: Caesar to Hitler to Bush
The Patriot Act - The War Powers Act and the non-Contitutional decrees that Bush has made under these abominations have ended the Rule of law in America. We are now living under the oppressive thumb of Tyranny - a dictatorship of the worst kind - a stupid and morally bankrupt tyrrant the likes of which has not been seen since the days of Nero. Known as the emperor who "fiddled while Rome burned"; much as Bush fiddled with his tie while planes crashed into towers on 9-11 and fiddled around with his buddies while New Orleans drowned.

We're going to have to work a lot harder; If we are going to restore the Republic. I can't think of anything more worth working and fighting for than Freedom. It was quite a glorious experiment to try to create a nation Ruled by Law. The Constitution of the United States is more than just a piece of paper; it is the liberation from the centuries of tyranny of men - the capricious whims of fools and the delusions of madmen. All that has been scraped by the cowards that we elected to represent us in congress.

Demand the return of the Rule of Law - Impeach the Tyrant who P**sed on the Constitution - and Bush will "Beware the IdesOfMarchNow.org !"

10. more great quotes from the defend marriage gang
"I think it's absolutely important that the American people defend the institution of marriage."

Rev. Pat Robertson

"The truth is that, for these detractors, there will never be a good time to protect the traditional institution of marriage — because they don't want to protect the traditional institution of marriage. Government has the responsibility to take precautions to PROTECT the institution of marriage."

Sen. John Cornyn

"We will DEFEND marriage as the union between a man and a woman.”

Sen. Wayne Allard

"I will do everything I can to DEFEND marriage in Alabama."

Gov. Bob Riley

"The debate in the U.S. Senate is likely only the beginning of the STRUGGLE to protect families and our traditional way of life. But it is a STRUGGLE we must win."

Sen. Jim Bunning

"I would argue that the FUTURE of our country HANGS IN THE BALANCE because the future of marriage hangs in the balance. Isn't that the ULTIMATE HOMELAND SECURITY, standing up and defending marriage?"

Sen. Rick Santorum

"This is the WATERLOO, this is the GETTYSBURG," Dobson said. "If lost, it will be like a mirror shattered. Once it's broken, it will not be able to be repaired."

James C. Dobson
