Poll question: What % of his supporters actually know John Edwards was a U.S. Senator...
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 07:00 PM by SaveElmer
Given his effort to run away from his record in Washington as quickly as he can, how successful has he been in obscuring the fact that he wasn't the populist he is trying to make himself out to be now...?

1. He's apologized for his entire Senate career so often, most must know it.
But by "most" remember we're still talking about very small numbers...

30. ROFLMAO!!!

BTW, for any snarky comments.... I don't have a candidate. I just know it won't be Edwards for that reason.

2. What % of Clinton supporters aren't arrogant and obnoxious?
I'm guessing maybe the single digits, at best.

Nice extrapolation there.

5. Sure...as we know supporters of other candidates...
Are here for a sober, reasonable discussion of the issues, without resort to Hyperbole or name calling

Most would take a rational and well thought out view of Hillary...

And come to completely rational conclusions devoid of arrogance

4. Very few
What % know that he co-wrote the legislation that brought us into Iraq? Oh wait, it doesn't matter because he "apologized" for it just before running for prez.

I don't see how anyone could know enough about the guy to bother to support him without knowing that. It's pretty common knowledge.

15. Go to Wikipedia and follow the links to the 203 bills he co-sponsored
A fair number are ceremonial stuff, but there's ENDLESS proof of his bona fides as a populist.

This is a bullshit thread for the asinine ravings of deliberate obfuscators. They either don't know any better or are distorting on purpose.

He gets a better rating FOR HIS VOTING than Hillary does from the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association. (She, Biden and Dodd get 93%; He, Kucinich and Obama get 100%.)

He gets a better rating from the AFL-CIO, too.

She is the only one of the candidates to have voted for free trade with Chile and Singapore; Biden, Dodd and Edwards voted against them.

Edwards was tireless in preventing the sunset clauses from being stripped out of the Patriot Act.

Feingold called him "a terrific asset" in getting McCain/Feingold passed.

Edwards sponsored bills to fund research into the "weak-x" chromosome in an effort to fight mental retardation. He also sponsored a bill to limit and control spyware to protect peoples' privacy.

Not only does he not "run away from his Senate career", he's very proud of it and he should be. His record is very progressive and that's especially brave for someone from a red state like his.

This thread is the worst kind of juvenile ridicule: it's diametrically opposed to the truth and its very premise is a flat-out lie. The premise is that he runs away from his record, which he doesn't at all.

People bellyache about politicians and especially men never being able to admit a mistake. Well, this kind of carping from sub-critics is one of the reason they tend not to.

13. "Push poll" LOL
What's Elmer pushing? The idea that he was a senator? Biased poll question, yes, but not a push poll. People keep using that term without knowing what it means.

14. Being from NC of course I knew he was a Senator
but truth to tell it's hard to remember if he actually did much of anything while he was there. It appeared he started running for President his first day on the job. I would say it's doubtful he could get re-elected to the Senate here if he ever considered it again. I doubt he can win the primary here either for that matter...

20. most probably know him as the VP candidate in Kerry campaign
in which Kerry garnered the 2nd most votes ever for a presidential candidate and narrowly lost to an incumbent. I like Edwards' chances to fight through the Hillary-Obama hype and gain traction especially after he wins in Iowa.

21. As opposed to another Senator, Senator Clinton, who can't give nothing but double speak at debates?
Senator Edwards smashed Senator Clinton into the ground the other night. Is that why Team Hillary is hitting back so hard, and whining about him supposedly "piling on" when he challenged her on what she, herself, said?

23. who do you support for president? and why?
there's no need to devalue Edwards by comparing him to a slick salesperson. The odds are you support Hillary, and that is just the kind of jibe her husband had to endure. CHeap AND unoriginal. Sounds like you're trying to sell us something already used.

don't make fun of him because he's got nice hair and a great smile. just about every politician running for president could be called a used car salesman. it's so cliche it is putting me to sleep.

quit the ad hominem attacks and tell me who you support and why.

26. I support Hillary because -
Edited on Sat Nov-03-07 01:27 AM by smalll
I think she'll make a fine President, I think her intelligence, hard work and level-headedness will be a perfect antidote to 8 years of Dubya, and I think she is the Democrat who will make sure to actually win this time. Remember winning? As Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing."

(P.S. - that should be "cliched" -- you're trying to use the adjective there rather than the noun! :hi:)

Edited on Mon Nov-05-07 01:13 PM by FrenchieCat
many of his supporters probably assume that Edwards must have been a governor, not a senator in his past life...because other than being a good looking White guy from the South, I can't understand why they think that he is so "electable".

because of the number of polls that showed him doing better in head-to-head match-ups with the Repug candidates than Clinton or Obama.
