Because if this goes ahead and fails, Democrats will pay the price in 2008.

Remember, It was a Democrat that brought it to the floor.

Karl Rove lives.

3. Dennis mentioned some of the charges when he introduced the res.
He has obstructed justice at least as much as Big Dawg did, and not just with respect to ONE WOMAN's lawsuit.

If the allegations are not provable, we will look worse than the repubs did with the blue dress.

6. Not so. Dragging all that crap out in the open is gonna show
these evil fucks for exactly what they are. Technicalities won't even matter.

We know how that game works, and we can start playing it, too.

8. How about Cheney's aid Scooter?
For starters. Who outed Valerie Plame and had the aids distribute the fact that she was CIA, etc. to the media? Scooter got his orders from Cheney. Then Rove helped with his comment that Plame was "fair game".

Bush gave Cheney the ability to de-classify classified info. Cheney had a field day selectively giving out cherry picked intel info.

5. The stuff that will be regurgitated on the news, subpoenaed,
and exposed - remember the volumes a stained blue dress generated - will no doubt uncover malfeasance that no American or political party will be proud of or support.

The Dems need to stop being so afraid of doing anything for fear of 'what if'. If they can't or won't, they should step aside for a third party will.

10. I have come to learn there is only law if two of the
three branches of government say there is law.

Judiciary is not going to be on the side of Congress. It is a Conservative Supreme Court. So, Executive gets to keep getting away with everything they want. Heck, they won't even listen to Congress's subpoena's.

11. The way I understand it, the Congress doesn't need the Supreme Court's approval
Edited on Tue Nov-06-07 05:53 PM by Uncle Joe
for impeachment, high crimes or misdemeanors as to be determined by the Congress, however if this Supreme Court insists on overstepping it's bounds as they did during the selection of 2000, the justices can be impeached as well. To be honest I don't believe the Congress would have enough votes to convict as Republican Senators will most likely stick to Cheney/Bush regardless, however it sure didn't hurt Bush, because a partisan Republican Congress impeached Clinton, even though they failed to convict. I believe there is something to be said for having the fortitude to do what you believe is right even if it can't succeed. I also believe this only enhances the myth of the Republicans being a strong party that stands for something even if their wrong.

14. I am not sure how that would work, I need to read up
on what get's you impeachment, then what gets you a conviction.

9. Oh double bullshit, perhaps triple.
1) impeachment is a political proceeding, not a judicial proceeding. You can be impeached for bad breath, no actual violation of statutes need to be established.

2) this regime has broken numerous laws, has certainly engaged in high crimes and misdemeanors, and may very well have committed treason.

3) the theory that failed impeachments lead to legislative electoral disasters is devoid of a factual basis. The republicans held the house and after the failed Clinton impeachment.
