"I'm one of Joe's (Biden) biggest fans"--says Hillary
'I Would Consider Joe Biden For Anything'

MASON CITY, IOWA --On Tuesday night here, a voter asked Hillary Clinton "I know it's premature but you're going to be the next president of the United States, so who would you pick as your vice-president" --"Well, I'm not taking anything for granted," Clinton said. "I'm not sure what's going to happen in the caucus. How are we going to campaign through Christmas? New Year's Eve, don't drink very much, you have to be ready on the 3rd," referring to the Jan. 3 date for the Iowa caucuses.

The voters persisted, with the next one asking if Clinton would pick Joe Biden as her vice-president.

"I would consider Joe Biden for anything," Clinton said. "He's a friend of mine, he's a wonderful senator. I'm one of Joe's biggest fans."

--I just don't get it, Hillary loves Biden, Musharraf CALLS Biden, not Condi...why isn't this man polling higher???

1. The Senate is VERY, VERY collegial. And what's not to like about JB?
John Kerry and Trent Lott have a warm personal relationship, even though they don't agree about ANYTHING politically.

It's not the House; it is a bit more 'clubby' and most of them are lawyers; they get along, pretty much, even when they don't agree.

2. Personally speaking ...
Foreign policy competence is dead last on my list of priorities. But then I trend towards isolationist. Let the rest of the world deal with the rest of the world. I want a President that is going to focus on OUR problems.

5. he walks the walk
Biden isn't just about foreign policy--he rides Amtrack everyday to DC from his home community.

He doesn't live in the DC bubble, I love that about the guy!

I came across this video, the interviewer just ran into Joe at a local DC coffee shop

9. with all due respect...
it's 2007. the world is becoming more interconnected. We owe a ton of money to china. We can't do anything big domestically until we get out of iraq. There is still Al Qaeda and rising muslim fundamentalism. We are more isolated than ever. Foreign Policy is absolutely #1 on my list. I don't see how you can put foreign policy last on your list.

11. I agree
What happens in the rest of the world has profound effects on domestic issues here. We are part of a global community and that is not going to change.

13. I couldn't agree more Think82...
The next administration is going to be all about foreign policy. Domestically we have been hobbled by the current inept administration, and until we get some sanity on the foreign policy front, we don't have a chance of getting anything accomplished here at home.

14. Without good Foreign Policy;
consdering the mess the Shrub has made of the world, there may not be any us.

How in the world do you think anything can be accomplished for us until the Bush mess is cleaned up and we reclaim our status in this world.

21. That would be nice if that was realistic, but it's not.
What happens outside the U.S. affects what happens to us. The world economy. Oil. Global warming. We could bring all our troops back home tomorrow and they'd be replaced with China's, which wouldn't matter to us too much today, but once again we'd be doing our children and grandchildren a grave disservice. And as much as I want to get out of Iraq, we now have a certain responsibility to the Iraqi people and the Middle East in general, thanks to Bush. That doesn't mean an open-ended stay in Iraq, but it does mean that we have to leave behind some semblence of order, and we do have to begin the departure as soon as possible. Just my humble opinion.

3. It's always seemed to me that they get along well
they generally speak well of each other, and in pictures I've seen of them together (in the Senate, after debates, etc.), they always seem to greet each other warmly and have a friendly relationship.

I doubt she'd pick him for VP, though, as they're both Senators from the Northeast. They're my two favorite candidates in the race, though.

6. My take: Clinton wants Biden's Iowa caucus goers to make her their second choice.
Flattery will get you anywhere with a candidate's loyal supporters.

8. Absolute bullshit.
I'm a supporter of Senator Clinton but have always thought that Senator Biden was better than he was coming across in the media. When people pay attention to him and what he is saying, he comes across as a very strong Presidential candidate.....nothing to do with wanting his as a second choice in Iowa. If you polled the HRC supporters here on DU, you would probably find that most of us like Joe Biden. Go figure, huh? But, I like him because he is a straight-shooter with enough experience to take over from minute one, just like Senator Clinton. Edwards and Obama, probably not.

And I like the other candidates but don't believe they are actually electable.

18. Absolutely! She's counting on 2nd-choice support from Richardson's and Biden's supporters and hoping
that Dodd's and Kucinich's supporters split between Edwards and Obama.

7. this may be a move on her part to keep voters who are looking to him
as he has foreign policy experience that many don't view Edwards and Obama as having.

10. Joe Biden and Bill Clinton
are very close friends. As well as Joe and Hillary. Bill Clinton confided in Joe Biden many, many times. You really will never hear Joe Biden crucifying Hillary on any subject. When I think about a Joe Biden Presidency, I believe he'll utilize President Clinton just as much as Hillary would.
