I wish like hell he would make a definitive announcement. Please don't tell me he's already done that - he hasn't.
Wes Clark teased me like a sonofabitch, and it still smarts.

NOT RUNNING FOR PREZ on the bathroom wall with it, then walk out with his pants down around his ankles and someone on DU would say

"Well, he didn't spell out President", so he might be running for that.

22. Thanks for my first laugh of the day
and you're absolutely right about that. Gore supporters are so invested in having a messiah/superhero/big daddy swoop out of the sky and save them at the last possible minute that they've completely missed everything he's said about not running.

Now they say it's because Gore hasn't used some exact phrase or other.

We don't have a heavy sigh smilie, either.

3. I don't expect he will make a definitive announcement.
I'm betting there will still be people here expecting him to run right up to election day.

I think if you're waiting for something more definitive than we've already gotten, you're going to be waiting a long time.

29. What you have said may well turn out to be true. But, if so, why
would Gore do that? Why would he weaken our other candidates by allowing many to hold out on the hope that he would run? I just don't get it.

24. This is the best response until now
It's pretty clear that Al Gore is not taking part in the primaries.

He is continuing his work to draw the world's attention to the climate crisis.

He has commitments to deliver speeches in December, January and beyond.

In April 08 he will bring out his next book The Path To Survival

This will be the much anticipated sequel to An Inconvenient Truth

I still believe that Al Gore is the best person for the job (President).

But it's now too late for him to participate in the primaries for 2008.

I guess our only hope is a deadlocked Democratic National Convention in Denver.

That would be cool. But the odds of it happening are like, real low.

My heart supports the idea of Drafting Gore, but my head knows it cannot work.

Not while there are 8 candidates up and running, asking folks for their votes.

What's your favorite season? Mine is season 3, which is the first season I watched.

Faith is my favorite character. Totally amazing performance by Eliza Dushku.

I read that Joss Whedon will be making a whole new show starring Eliza! B-)

Better to spend your time helping someone else who IS running than lamenting the fact that he's not.

32. No he didn't. He always says he's not "planning" on running. He kept everyone hanging.
It doesn't matter anyway, except maybe to the people who think he'd actually have a chance at winning the Democratic Primary. I don't think he could beat out Obama or Clinton at this point, maybe not even Biden.

40. Because...
He'd be getting into it way too late. I'm just not hearing the same outcry in mainstream Democratic America for Al to jump in now as we were hearing a year ago.

He's been out of politics for almost 8 years. Anyone who thinks that that's insignificant is fooling themselves.

Even though he won the popular vote and got screwed by the Supreme Court in 2000, I don't think that there would be enough people in mainstream America that would perceive him as being a strong enough campaigner to beat someone like Gullini. I think by now that too many voters are locked into a certain candidate and wouldn't jump ship to Gore.

Only on DU could Al Gore jump in and easily win the primary or general election. Anywhere else and I don't think he'd stand the same chance in either election. I love Gore, but I'm being realistic about it.

I have no plans is not definitive, it's present tense, only two things can make it definitive an announcement to that effect from Al Gore, which hasn't come to date or time literally running out, for some that's the primary deadlines, for me it's the convention.

44. Under convention rules, where primary winners are locked into the first ballot,
I don't understand how Gore could win.

Otherwise, if he signs up for the primary, he'll wind up in third place in most states, according to the polls.

Either way, there's no logical way for Gore to win, and I think he knows that - even if he were tempted to enter the contest.

That's what I mean by "definitive."
