they didn't succeed (so far) with the idiot in office now--at least as far as total annihilation is concerned. He's still got a while in office, though, so he might manage to fuck us up completely still. In which case, Robertson is down on his knees giving a BJ to his own particularly nasty god, with the fervent hope that his happy day will still come.

It's funny, listening to the Christian right talk about this is very similar to listening to the left complain about their party; they don't respect us, why should we vote for someone "electable" who doesn't represent our values, I'm not going to "fall in line", I hate the whole line-up, stop taking us for granted, it's all talk.

I don't think, given the general unhappiness out there, that this endorsement is going to make everyone get on the same page, at all.

And the "base" of the base is seemingly getting smaller. At least they aren't as vocal as they have been, with too many of their "leaders" falling off the edge of the earth--Haggard is a prime example, and the fact that Falwell had a body they had to bury shows he wasn't raptured at the end. :)

I remember reading something recently which pointed out that the religious right was going about it all wrong--instead of electing people who would try to counter the bad stuff, they needed to get a candidate to encourage it!
