Next time you hear a petty stupid story about a candidate
like John Edward's haircut, or Hillary Clinton's not leaving a tip, think before you post it. Don't stretch something small to make it look significant. It's one thing to discuss personal qualities, it's another thing to post bullshit stories and gossip in the hope of smearing a candidate.

What's the point? That candidate's supporters aren't going to change their mind over a haircut or a tip. It serves only two purposes: It pisses off the candidate's supporters, and it helps develop a smear line that can take on a life of its own outside DU.

2. Does this apply only to Dems? Can I spread vicious, stupid rumors about Rudy and Mitt?
I'm not saying that Rudy and Mitt are ... well, you know ... a "thing" ... but it's what I heard.

Can I spread that rumor at DU?

10. A couple of months ago I heckled a comedian about Rudy.
He got annoyed with some young women that were talking during his bit about politics(there were maybe 15 people in the whole bar). When the women state they support Hillary upon being asked he starts offering up all sorts of bs about Hillary being a lesbian and other nasty crap you would expect from the like of Rush. All while berating the women for a good 5 minutes(which he thought was fair since they were talking to each other quietly during his show)He then goes what about Rudy? going on a short praise rant of Rudy and asks what's wrong with Rudy?

That's when I yelled out that he's a transvestite. The whole bar laughs and this guy was near speechless. Best he coudl muster was "I had not heard that". He did not bother berating me, moving his routine along.

But the women did make him look like a bully when he began to berate them again later. They basically made a big show of walking out and since they were about a 1/5 of the crowd and the only women there, some men followed.

7. You know very well what the point of posting that stuff is...
the point is to smear a candidate at all costs, if they aren't the one we personally support. It happens a lot here and it's getting old.
I wish more folks would follow your advice Cali.

14. I use good judgement.
I don't post stories as new threads. If it's something like a haircut, I don't give a shit. I can deduce that a "tip" story is bullshit- there's at least one every election story. I wouldn't expect you to grasp these basic things.

when it comes to distinguishing propogandistic media hits and accurate reporting? Don't you have any ideas on how to identify propoganda?

20. Who cares if Edwards spent $400 dollars for a hair-cut...
I doubt he has much trouble paying for it. Is his message less important because he has money? I think most candidates are well above middle-class status...the price of the haircut was a straw-man. Nothing more.

All I said was one was true and the other was false.

There could be video tape of Hillary leaving a sack of money on the table and you'd still believe what you want to believe.
