The average American just is not paying attention.

8. It would seem the rise in all of the big 3's numbers stem from Al Gore's removal as a choice.
I also found these numbers combining 1st and 2nd choice interesting.

First and second choice COMBINED
                  11/5-7/07 10/1-3/07 9/21-25/07 9/10-12/07
Hillary Clinton 64 60 58 62
Barack Obama 50 47 44 40
John Edwards 31 26 26 24
Bill Richardson 9 6 7 7
Joe Biden 7 6 5 6
Chris Dodd 2 2 2 3
Other 2 * 1 0
None 6 3 5 4
DK/NS 7 8 9 8
Al Gore* - 24 23 30

I guess Ipsos does not ask about Kucinich or Gravel

Hillary is the greatest candidate ever, her staff, and volunteers are
second to none. So all you people who believe that you really have
a choice .... forget it .... The Hillary Blitzkrieg is rolling along just
like the Germans did in Russia ... Matter of fact she is the surest
thing since the 2006 Ohio State Buckeyes rolled into the national
Championship football game.

Surrender now or be ground into the dirt by Hillary inc.
Brought to you by .. The Insurance Industry, The HMOs, Big
Pharmaceutical Comapnies, the Military /Industry complex,
Wall street, and a lazy media.

38. True.
And I guess taking my word for it would be a tad overreaching ;-)

I have gone after the memes of President Dean and President Lieberman because although the race has yet to be decided the polling in 2004 was very different from the polling in 2008 on quite a few levels.

Let's just say though I have certainly expressed confidence in my candidate and her campaign, I have never said its over or anything silly like that.

24. The post you linked to was so desperate and over-reaching...
I thought it might have been written with a sarcastic edge but I then realized the author was trying to be "serious". Egads! Why does it rile some people if Clinton is ahead in the polls...don't they want a Democrat in the White House? Are they so blinded by hatred that they would prefer to see a repug put the country through more turmoil? Clinton is third on my list of candidates, but I don't harbor her any ill will. Some people on this web-site could give some freeps a run for their money.

Heres to Senator Clinton...:toast:

Edited on Thu Nov-08-07 07:39 PM by Wolsh
What part of the primaries do you not understand? Seriously? This isn't the time that we all come together and sing kumbiya. This is the time to discuss ideals, and the make up of the "ideal" candidate. You pick a horse and you ride it through the convention ( or at least through the primary season.)

Just because Hillary leads in some polls does not mean that if she stumbles we are given the election to the republicans. There is a very good argument to be made that Hillary not winning the nomination would be GREAT for the democratic chances in the GE.

I do take great pleasure in Hillary beginning her inevitable fall from grace. It means that a real democrat has a chance to win the nomination.

Or was that just overheated rhetoric?

"Those numbers could change over night depending on what happens in Iowa and NH."

Yes they could. They could also stay the same.

Considering that she is doing well in polling in NH & NV and is in the hunt in IA if not leading the pack, I would say the chances for her to become the nominee are quite good.

I don't know what scenario would make negative poll movements in the most important primaries a positive thing.

23. You're pinning your hopes to a single Rasmussen poll?
I like Ras, he updates frequently which means we'll have another NH poll in 2 week or so.

She lost 2 points in the Zogby poll.

Otherwise, she went up in this poll. She went up in the NBC/WSJ. So far it looks as if she may have weathered the storm though we won't know until after the next round of polls and the next debate in 2 weeks.

And I never said it was a positive thing to go down in the polls.

I took issue with your ridiculous claim that the campaign was falling apart.

She leads with 28% support, down from 30% in an August Zogby telephone poll. Barack Obama of Illinois, having made a serious campaign blitz of Iowa in recent months, is showing some progress at 25%, up from 19% in August

And while polls have little useful predictive value, they can counter BS like Hillary is hated by Democrats, Hillary can't win in the GE, Hillary can't win in the South and other nuggets of "wisdom" that seem to have little evidence to them other than being oft repeated.

I don't think she will lose those states but even in the unlikely event she does I say she can pick herself up and dust herself off, and still win the nomination... She's getting sixty percent of the women's vote...Women make up sixty percent of Democratic primary voters...They won't abandon her easily...

If a dry drunk like Bush* can pick himsself off the floor HRC can...

It's also ludicrous that the two most homogeneous states in the Union , NH, and IA, have so much power...

Oh, if Edwards loses IA which is likely he's done...That's why his attacks are so mean spirited... If this was a general election HRC would respond in kind because it's a zero sum game... She can't respond in kind in the primaries...Because with eight candidates it's anything but a zero sum game... The only beneficiary of Edwards' attacks is Barack Obama...
