3. Hmm... an NPR radio host even asked Lynn Cheney about this very set of strips on the air...

She was a call-in guest interviewee guest on this week's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me." The host asked her about this set of Doonesbury strips depicting her husband in the dark robes and so forth, and she pooh-poohed it. In order to demonstrate how serious they take this sort of thing in the Cheney Palace household, she pointed out that they had dressed their black Labrador Retriever up for Halloween this year in a Darth Vader costume, just to make a point.

when she appeared on the Daily Show. She gave Jon Stewart a Darth Vader figure.

6. Of course it's a joke to them. Why shouldn't it be?

If they make it into a joke, then no one will take seriously the idea that Cheney is an unrepentantly evil greedead who kills tame birds for sport, has a hard-on for war that would embarrass Ron Jeremy, and boasts all the morals of a rabid weasel.

Making it into a joke is great spin. If I were a dark overlord who preferred to rule from behind the throne, I'd do the same.
