1. When they say something good, they want her
When they say something bad, they're trying to encourage a "dem backlash" in support of her

2. Good question.
The crazies are something like 25->33%.

This means the top three most important factors are Turn Out, Turn Out, and Turn Out.

And Turn Out depends upon who and what we are concretely doing e-v-e-r-y day.

6. Well since we were told by so many people here
that Rove WANTED Hillary to win the nomination, I'm curious as to why the Repuke attack dogs are going after her with guns blazing now, in November.

I'd like to hear the contorted reasoning on that one.

17. They want ratings.
They don't care if Hillary is the nom --or if Obama is the nom --or if Edwards is the nom.

They want RATINGS. That means they have to make it a dead heat going into the primaries.

Better television.

5. Hillary scares the bejezus out of them. They pray every night that someone else wins the nod
like John Edwards who they know is unelectable.

7. please already. the repug game plan has never been subtle.
they are direct, they attack whoever they want to take down, right now.
2000 they went right after gore, relentlessly.
2004, they took out dean first because he was the biggest perceived threat, and moved on from there.
now its hillary. if they can take her out they will go after the next most likely opponent.

10. No, they are afraid of her!
Actually, they are petrified of having her as a nominee (go to Freerepublic). The Clintons are the only ones who have defeated them every time at the national level with 2 presidential and 2 senatorial races under their belt. They are also the only ones who have a political machine as deft, capable and well financed as theirs and they are terrified to lose to them one more time.

elect another Repuke next year. And they don't want to face Clinton when they could face Obama or Edwards ... Candidates to the left to the left.

in the bag.

They thought Dean had it in the bag by December2003, and then they started to unload on him. His mention of the media monopolies on Hardball sure stepped it up then, too.

They thought they had Kerry's campaign killed off by September, but he adjusted his campaign in time to deal with the hostility from the media - Dean didn't have that time to adjust.

14. If you think they are attacking her now
just wait.

If she gets the nomination you will see a shitstorm that will make swiftboating look like a canoe paddling around in a farm pond.

16. She's the one Republican *voters* want the Democrats to run.
Not because they have good reason to believe that she's the least likely to win, but because they hate her most (because she's the best known) and want to beat her, and because most of them are not terribly clear thinkers (like the rest of the electorate).

She may well not be the one the Republican candidates, and intelligent & informed Republican supporters, would most like to run against.

18. They're just warming up
Doing a test run to see what angle works best - if it looks like she's in trouble, they will back off to help her get the nomination.

They are drooling over the nasty stuff they can say and do after her nomination.

20. Because it's not true that the Republicans want to run
against Hillary. They fear her. Unfortunately too many people on DU feel the same way.
I think she will make a great President. I can't wait.

21. "why are Fixed News and Sludge trying their damndest to sink her now?"
I was not aware that they have been trying to sink her.

They annointed her the front runner before 04 was even over!

So what are Fox and Drudge doing to try to sink her? Be specific! Unless you can tell us WHAT they are doing to try to sink her, I will not give any credence to your claims.
