Biden most qualified Democrat in the field--Nashua Telegraph

http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071111/NEWS08/311110113/-1/news08

"Unlike his competitors, Biden has a clear, thoughtful and logical approach to dealing with Iraq – ... His plans for dealing with climate change and reducing our dependence on foreign oil are at least as good as the other candidates, except perhaps for former Sen. John Edwards. However, unlike Edwards, Biden has a very good overall environmental voting record. The League of Conservation Voters gives Biden a lifetime score of 84 (out of 100) based on his voting record on important environmental legislation. Edwards, on the other hand, gets a meager 59."

--and this from the comments section of the article:
"As a conservative, believe me when I say the Republican Party is terrified of the possibility of facing Joe Biden in a general election.TERRIFIED. On the flip side Republicans look forward to the possibility of running against Hillary Clinton, Obama, or Edwards."

2. How about a Biden-Obama ticket in 2008 -- anyone?
It's not that I don't like Hillary Clinton or John Edwards. They are good politicians.

But Biden comes across as someone who knows his stuff when it comes to World Affairs.

He won't be depending on advisors the whole time telling him what to say and do.

Obama is a smart guy, but I'm not sure he is ready to take over the Presidency today.

Eight years as VP would prepare Obama to take over the Presidency in 2017.

17. I am all for that - except for 1 reason - we would lose 2 wonderful Senators.
As long as we can replace both of their seats with Dems....

7. I've often said that Biden is the ONE candidate
the republicans DON'T want to run against. They couldn't play the "fear card" with Biden.

8. The Reason Why...
..the Republicans are TERRIFIED is because Biden positions are well thought-out and contain substance.

He is absolutely the only candidate with the goods as far as I'm concerned. The Republicans are happy to see his poll numbers so low.

9. Anyone who still has any doubts about Sen. Biden consider this passage...
from the above mentioned article:

"As a conservative, believe me when I say the Republican Party is terrified of the possibility of facing Joe Biden in a general election.TERRIFIED. On the flip side Republicans look forward to the possibility of running against Hillary Clinton, Obama, or Edwards."

Some of us have been making this argument for months. Dare I say it? Biden's election would be a slam dunk, a real slam dunk.

12. Biden definitely has the qualifications to do the job with honesty and competence.
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 02:37 PM by blm
And he can act the part as glib charmer for those who see that as an asset. But not just the empty charm of less honest pols - empty charm used to cover up holes in one's character annoys the crap out of me.

24. If you ever listen to Wash. Journal you know you might hear anyone...
say just about anything. A lot of people call praising Bush. What would you say to someone who posted a statement on a blog using a call they heard on C-span as evidence that Bush is really doing a good job? I'm sure there are a lot of supporters of Musharraf, among those he has left, who would claim that Biden doesn't know what he's talking about. I think it would help the discussion if we knew why the caller was making that claim and who the caller was backing in Pakistan.

27. Yeah, we don't need no stinkin' experience.......
..........Oh my god, I'm remembering 2000 and Bush not even knowing the name of the president of Pakistan. He was able to recall that he was a "general" and he had the look of a cornered rat.

28. If Republicans really are terrified of running against Biden, here's why.
1. He'll eat any of them alive in a debate. It's not just the well-developed flair for snark ("A noun, a verb, and 9/11"), but also the substantive deflection of media/wingnut talking points (turning the question about Iran to the real issue of Pakistan).

2. Did either Musharaff or Bhutto call Ghouli or Mitt or even Bush first? Nope, both called Biden. Biden has credibility worldwide.

3. When (not if) they try to swiftboat him, the result won't be pretty (from the swiftboaters point of view).

There are probably more, but those occur to me now.
