I'm honored to have this opportunity to help launch VetVoice. This online community for our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, I believe, will become one of the premiere sites on the Internet. There is no better use of time, energy, and space than providing a venue, a voice, to our Iraq and Afghanistan active duty, reserve, National Guard as well as the veterans and their families who give so much, everyday, for our nation.
You know, there are many ways to love our country, and there are many ways to serve our country. But the path chosen by those serving or who have served in our armed services makes everything we know and cherish about America possible.
I've been working hard in this campaign to communicate with our soldiers, veterans and their families to share my vision and commitment to honor all they have done by keeping the promises and provide all the benefits that have been earned in service to our nation. VetVoice will provide an unequaled venue for our Iraq and Afghanistan soldiers and veterans to come together and discuss the type of ideas and proposals I and others are putting forth such as my commitment to the following:
# Enact a GI Bill of Rights for the Twenty-first Century
# Guarantee Affordable and Quality Health Care for All Veterans
# Ensure All Veterans Receive the Benefits They Have Earned and the Assistance They Need -- Right from the Start
# Extend Hiring Preferences to Veterans-friendly Contractors
# Expand the Helmets to Hardhats Program
# Give Veterans Additional Opportunities to Serve our Nation
# Reduce Homelessness among Veterans
# Expand Veterans Homeownership

Our country will be stronger for having VetVoice, a place to have a conversation about these and other ideas. I encourage everyone to visit this blog, to engage one another, and to share your ideas and tell us your stories. Again I thank those who are making VetVoice possible.
