Edwards on "Don't ask, don't tell"
Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 06:44 PM by asdjrocky
Here's the Progressive approach: (IMO)

“It is long past time to end the military’s ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy and to allow openly gay men and women to serve in the military. It is critical to our national security that we have the best people in our military. Gay men and women have continually served our country with honor and bravery, and we should honor their commitment and never turn away anyone who is willing to serve their country because of their sexual orientation.

“This is an issue of fundamental fairness – and our military ought to treat everyone fairly. ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ did not become wrong. It was always wrong. Instead of fumbling when people question the morality of the 12,000 gays and lesbians who have unjustly lost military careers, we must repeal ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”

My pick....

1. It's not the progressive approach. It's the human being
approach.

6. Know your information-
Before you snark.

And by the way, people learn, people change. Weather he once voted for something or against it, does not matter to me. Senate records are all about compromise, especially if you are a Dem from a red state, you would think that most DUer's are smart enough to understand that. What matters is what the man plans to do, and what he is doing now.

How can you be taken seriously if you do not check your information?

Let's go to work.

9. So it was just a simple question?
Then you got your answer. Hope you are satisfied. Sorry if I sounded defensive, we deal with a lot of snarky comments here.

19. Were John Edwards to become president, people like Peter Pace and Colin
Powell would have to shape up or ship out.

Both Powell and Pace have consistently (and stupidly) opposed open lesbian and gay members in the military.

Makes me wonder why West Point generals aren't asked to read their ancient history.

Shame on the Pace and Powell models. Hurray for John Edwards.
