She's climbing the ramp, heading towards the shark
Hillary Clinton just arrived at the airport in Portsmouth, NH, about 15 miles south of Rochester, scene of today's hostage situation.

Look, we are all glad that this situation ended as it did. But there is something really unseemly about Sen. Clinton jumping on a plane and heading to NH to milk some publicity out of this event.

Sadly, she's not that great an actress to pull that off either.

In the same situation. Her volunteers went through a harrowing experience while working on her behalf. The criticism would be fast and scathing if she chose to resume her scheduled campaign activities instead of visiting them. I don't think this is jumping the shark at all. It's the right thing for her to do.

56. Oh for the love of Pete...
...what the bloody hell do you expect her to do?

If she stays away, when the regular folk staffing her office in a pretty small town in New Hampshire have just been through a very traumatic event, some of them quite reasonably fearing for their lives, then she will be deemed too cold, too uncaring, and not giving a damn about the "little people" who toil in the fields on her behalf.

But if she goes, then she's "milking it for publicity".

Give the woman a break. She did not cause this event, and she has both the right and the obligation to show up and make a statement about it. Good on her for doing so.

Anyone who reads this board knows she is definitely not my candidate in the primaries. Way, way too DLC for me. But for heaven's sake, can't we at least allow her her humanity?

Geez.

58. What? HRC was to call or text message her campaign workers
and their families and say "happy you are okay" and call or text messages the law enforcement officials that did such a great job?
No, HRC did the right thing by going to N.H. after the officials there said it was okay and most likely her Secret Service folks agreed she should go.

She went there for the right reason. To meet with her campaign staffers that were hostages and to talk private with them and their families. That was righteous. Also, to meet and greet the law enforcement officials that did such a great job and to thank them and shake their hand personally.

This press conference held late tonight was about the staff and their families and the law enforcement people. This was not about HRC. She kept the conference focused on her main reason for being there. Staff and family adn law enforcement. Even the press in their questions was respectful and did not go off on some campaign question un-related to the press conference...

Now as HRC said at the close of the conference, I am going to Iowa to campaign this weekend....
