This exerpt from a local township forum scares the pants off of me
I have changed the name of the town to protect those who may
fall victim.

Township Forum

2886. What's next?
by fedupforest, 11/30/07 8:06 ET

As I was reading the Township Times article about the fair in
the square I noticed that the Christmas Tree is now referred
to as the holiday tree! It's always been a Christmas tree
since before any of us were born. If the name upsets you do
not look at the Christmas tree. This politically correct crap
is getting out of hand!

It's a "Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony", not the
lighting of a "Holiday Tree." Meaning it's a holiday
ceremony to light the tree. Santa Claus is going to be there.
What, that isn't Christmasy enough for you?

For the response from another intelligent poster.

I'm not kidding. You need to lighten up a bit. You're being
just as bad as all the PC lunatics.

Nothing worse than the PC lunatics. They are cowards and as a
result of their cowardice, they are our culture.

2886.2. Ignorance.....
by TaxesGoEast, 11/30/07 22:23 ET
Re: What's next? by fedupforest, 11/30/07

This is an assault on our culture. "Holiday",
"fall feast", "holiday trees", the
pilgrims were evil, etc. It's an assault on our culture and
religion. Guess why you are off on 12/25. Because it's
CHRISTMAS. The day Jesus was born. Holiday feast? It's
Thanksgiving. Guess who we are thanking? Jesus. IT IS WHAT IT
IS. Enough with worrying about the small minority and enough
with PC. Lets take a stand an stop doing business with stores
who are to cowardly to recognize our true culture. For you
"frogs boiling in water" and not even realizing it,
the attack is real and gradual. Step out of it once in a while
and take a look.

that theocratic society thing is really working out nicely in
the Sudan ain't it? It's folks like you that don't think
anything should ever change that are the problem.

2886.2.1.1. Are you insane?

Re: What's next? by fedupforest, 11/30/07

It's not about change. In the middle east, aka "the butt
crack of the world" there could not be a bunch of less
tolerant people on earth. They are deporting a teacher over
there because she allowed her students to name a stuffed bear
"Muhammad." Actually she will be deported AFTER a
short stint in jail. She could have received 40 lashes and up
to six months. But you go ahead and say it's our fault for
calling all this PC crud just what it is CRUD. Are you one of
these atheists who won't recognize the existence of a Deity?
Doesn't it bother you that the new dollar coins no longer say
"In God We Trust?" This great nation was founded on
the principles of "Freedom OF Religion," not Freedom
FROM Religion. You heathen dirt worshipers better get your
heads out of your butts before it's too late. BTW, have a
Merry Christmas. And make sure to wish Jesus a happy birthday.

2886.2.1.1.1. I hope that this thread is just a spoof. by

If not, then all I can say is that your mindset is just the
same as those whom you condemn in Sudan. FYI, many framers of
the constitution were Deists. Have you forgotten this?: Bill
of Rights Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;
or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances.

1. Another DUer had a good response to this nonsense
"I remember a time when Christians complained about the over-commercialism of this spiritual holiday. Now, they can't get enough. I thought it was the Pharisees who were into commercializing religion"

3. And for that matter, do they remember WHERE Christ was born?
I think it was in that area which they (in the spirit of Christian love) refer to as "the buttcrack of the world".

7. Not to mention the situation in Sudan
They're certainly up in arms about the teacher being jailed and deported for the crime of insulting Islam; but at root, they seem to think that insulting Christianity should be a crime, as well. And something tells me that they'd gladly wield the whip or the cane to inflict the lashes.

Okay, new rule: You are not your religion. If you think your religion has been insulted, it's up to your deity to avenge the insult. We'll call it, I don't know, how about the "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" Rule?

5. Why does this scare you?
People are having a disagreement over what to call a decorated fir tree. Big deal.

You know, Freedom of Speech and all.

6. Actually
I'm kind of happy this came out. As a non-Christian, I and my family have felt our 'differentness' in this town. It goes beyond freedom of speech, it gets translated into actions and prejudice. Who knew that in this day and age my children would be taunted as "Christ killers"?

Yes, there is freedom of speech, but these yahoos don't believe that one should have the freedom to express their opinion on government Christmas trees. IMHO it goes against the Establishment clause, but heaven forbid I say that in public!
