About the California Electoral College thing --
Is there something I can tell my best friend (who lives there, obviously) to do? Can the people make a difference in this, or is it out of their hands?

IF he can vote on this, I want to make him aware --

Thanks for your help.

1. If they get the needed signatures,

I think it is due to appear on the June ballot.

Once approved for the ballot, before June he'll have plenty of opportunity to work/campaign against it.

Let's hope they fail to gather enough signatures.

3. Thanks for breaking it down into easy-to-understand steps for me. At this
point I'll just tell him to NOT sign anything!

Thanks again.

2. Basically, I look at it like this:
I live in LA. I use to live in a much smaller county- Solano. In both counties, when I voted, my vote was counted as the same. It was one vote and that one vote went into the grand total that decided who would win California. With this sham the rethugs are tryong to pull, it makes the votes of people in smaller, more rural areas count for more because how a small group of people in a rural area votes are now worth more than mine. Each congressional district will get one vote. SO, in LA, where there are millions of voters, we are all getting one shared congressional vote where people who live in the much smaller Solano (where I use to live) who might have only three-quarters of the votes somehow wind up with the same result- one congressional vote.

Also, why change the way we tally votes now? Is it because the republicans haven't taken California since reagan? Hmmm... seems like if they can't win by the rules, they simply change the rules.

And, on a whole other note, I consider this a waste of taxpayers money as I do not think it will hold up in court. Just like they're other waste of time Parental Notification petition. How many times are they going to try that one before they jsut give up?

4. Fight it all the way....

I hope every one is working against it. It seems like it might be a little like the Davis recall:

first they (Dems) thought they'd never get enough signingures... they did.

second they (Dems) thought the recall would fail....it didn't

third they thought a Dem would be elected.. and they got Arnold.

I hope CA is taking this seriously!
