It'll all be over in less than two months.
and so will most of the petty sour grapes whinging and angry lashing out on DU.

Tsunami Tuesday is Feb 5th. And the odds are excellent that this will settle who the nominee is. Do you know how many states will be voting on that date? At least 20 (a couple of states are still in the process of moving their primary/caucus to that date). This isn't the same process as prior years. It really does make it almost inevitable that the nominee will emerge on Feb 6. California, NY, Illinois, NJ, MA, AZ, CT, TN and others are all on Feb 5. So by the time it's over on that day, more than half of the states will have weighed in, and virtually ALL the delegate rich states will have voted.

This is not going to be a long drawn out process where no candidate will be chosen before June, and we are almost certainly not going to see a brokered convention.

2. Moving in the stupid direction
That's really great, the presidential campaign will start on Feb 7. There is a reason that most parliamentary democracies have figured out that 6-8 weeks is enough to conduct a campaign, hold an election, and swear in a new government. They have found that with modern technology, there isn't a reason to have a lame-duck government for two years. The only advantage would be if well-connected cronies still needed time to siphon at the public trough.

Oh! Now I get it! By all means, keep moving the date up. Maybe the 2012 primary candidates can announce on Feb. 10 and start collecting bribes, oops, I mean raising money from their contributors.

3. it's awful
And next year is by far the worst its ever been. But we're not a parliamentary system, so calling elections is out. We could and should change the primary system.

4. For the sake of peace on DU,I'm glad....for electoral purposes, I'm very sad...
Frontloading of the primaries makes it all name recognition and ends the chances of a long-shot candidacy.

5. What if it's NOT over in two months?
Obviously that's what the corporatists want, including the whore media. They want to force their candidate down our throats, call the primary in February, and then try to tell all of us that we had a fair vote in the process, just like they did in 2004.

What if people don't buy that bullshit this time around?

As John Lennon said, "you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one".

Get the word out. Vote for who YOU want. Not for whom defense contractor owned whores tell you is "electable".

If this primary isn't done until August 28, America wins.
