Don't get me wrong, I'm still a strong supporter of Obama and believe he would be our best nominee. I'm merely making an observation of how things stand at this point.

If Obama keeps going strong (which I believe he will) at some point Edwards will endorse him. If Obama flounders, I believe Edwards will be in a strong position to pick up his supporters. The most likely scenario, in my view is the first.

The only way Hillary can still win is by knocking out both Edwards and Obama, and I think that's going to be very difficult to do now.

Edwards strategy of cozying up to Obama (well, at least to some extent) is a good one at this point. It's a long shot, but it's the smartest move he could have made. His only chance is to Have Hillary drop out first, making it a two person race between him and Obama.

Hillary, of course, wants a two person race as well because she's running against two people now, not one.

Will be interesting to watch.

2. Nice to see you're coming around
It would have been hard to watch this debate with any shred of objectivity and not know that Hillary is the same old, same old. She is Republican-lite. Or, as I say, Bushco Blue. She took money from Murdoch.

You know I support Edwards.

He hasn't taken corporate money. He doesn't owe anyone and the comparison to Trust buster Roosevelt ( Teddy ) was a good one.

That said, I'll take Edwards/Obama in a two way race any day of the week and let them , in a two-way battle, earn the nomination.

Hillary is a threat as great as the Rethuglicans.

I'm for any scenario that gets her out of the race.

4. I think they have an unspoken agreement to take Sen. Clinton out.
Obviously, there's nothing formal or written down, but after listening to the debate, it's pretty obvious that they've decided to postpone their own head-to-head battle and focus their attacks on Sen. Clinton. It's a risky strategy, but it could have a huge payoff.

5. I think that is Edwards' strategy, yes.
I'm not convinced he's talked to Obama directly about it, but maybe Obama has got the hint?

8. Actually, I think Edwards and Obama were cozying up to each other.
It was obvious they have a strategy. This wasn't just about Edwards playing nice to Obama. Trust me.

9. Guess what? She will NEVER dropout. I think she'll just keep
going - she has the money to.

And if Edwards doesn't get some money, even though he's the one I think is the best, he'll have to drop out even if he does well.

Send money to Edwards thru his website so that the Fed has to match it.
although they're not going to match until sometime in March.....I'm afraid he may go broke before that

They keep drawing drawing contrast between themselves "change" and Clinton "status quo."

12. Smart, long term strategy would work towards
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 12:02 AM by sjdnb
an Edwards/Obama 08 ticket (with re-election in 2012) and an Obama/VP of his choice (too far in the future to guess) for 2016 - giving us 16 years to clean up the mess the Bush/GOP have left in their wake and to move toward re-establishing America as a fair, just, moral country where everyone can realize their dreams and the world can once again trust.
