An acquaintance sent me a chain letter today about Sen. Obama. Here it is, along with my reply. If anybody you know sends you one of these vile chain letters, please take the time to let them know how you feel and where you stand. It really pisses me off when people who don't know me that well make the assumption that I am a ignorant conservative fool like they are.

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born
in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM
from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white Athiest from
Wichita, Kansas.
Obama's parents met at the
University of Hawaii. When Obama was two
years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His
mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.
When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama
attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a
Catholic school.
Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is
quick to point out that, 'He was once a Muslim, but that he also
attended Catholic school.'
Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that
that he is not a radical.
Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this
influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned
to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct
influence over his son's education.
Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham,
introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school
in Jakarta.
Wahabism is the RADICAL ISLAMIC teaching that is followed by the Muslim
terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since
it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major
public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined
the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim
background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he
DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.
Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor
will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands
over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.
Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential
candidacy.
The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside
out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the
President of the United States, one of their own!!!!

First of all, this is more WRONG than most of the BS chain letters you forward to me. If you are going to forward chain letters (which you shouldn't), at least be sure they are factually correct. This one isn't even close, and was obviously written by some hate-mongering right-wing republican asshole, but that is probably being a bit redundant. I will tell you this, in my opinion, if ANY of the republican candidates is elected, this county is screwed even more than it already is thanks to Bush, Cheney and friends. I am not sure that the damage that the current bunch of republicans have done can ever be completely undone, and feel there are only a handful of candidates who will try (they are all Democrats, Kucinich, Edwards, Biden, Richardson and Al Gore if he were running). I also sincerely believe this, Bush and Cheney, along with Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and others should be tried by the Hague for war crimes, and after being found guilty, subject to the same punishment for their crimes as they would want imposed on a war criminal from another country. These men are truly evil human beings, who hide behind Christianity, and yet have never done a thing in their lives that Jesus would have approved of. I also doubt that Jesus would have approved of the chain letter that you are forwarding, given it's content of hate-mongering and lies to try to destroy a good man. If you haven't figured it out yet, and it is something I have never tried to hide, yes, I am a liberal Democrat. I love my country, and I dare say more than the average conservative who wraps himself in the flag and loves to tell everybody what a good Christian he is, all the while spreading hate and fear and screwing others over for personal gain. I take great pride in the title liberal, and believe that unlike the way the right-wing has tried to define it, and is a title to be proud of, though I prefer to be called a Progressive and believe that is a better description. In short, I try to live my life as a good person, though like all people, I am sure I make the occasional mistake. One thing I do make a very conscious effort at though is to be tolerant of others who are different than me, though even there I fail. See I am very INTOLERANT of those who themselves intolerant. Does that make me a hypocrite? Maybe, but as much as I hate hypocrites, I can live with it in this instance.
