HRC supporters: What do you think about the "35 yrs of experience" theme?

Simply from a campaign strategy perspective, this is not exploring any actual issue of merits of candidates or advocacy of one versus the other.

Would you or would you not prefer there had been a more specific focus on her actual experience as an elected Senator from NY, which is at least as much as any other major candidate, and unambiguously "her" accomplishment?

In my view the 35 years thing contributes to confusion and results in much less discussion of her Senate career. It allows media discussions and punditry to focus on the "wife of Bill" aspect and dimwitted voters to not even be aware that she had a Senate career. Maybe that's just me?

1. Why not, the other guys are running with the " I don't know how to do anything"
"so we'll make up new stuff" theme.

2.  Her first job as a lawyer was for the Children's Defense Fund 35 years ago

3. She does have the experience, look at her resume, but I don't think this will resonate
People want to know specifically what a candidate intends to do

4. I think whenever she says that, she should mention 3-5 things right away
so that people know what she's talking about. Her biography isn't well known at all, apparently, so she's only been defined as Bill Clinton's wife. Whenever she uses that phrase, it should be followed by specifics -- that'd be my advice to her.

5. Actually, you have hit right on the problem, and she herself is guilty of it

In some of her speech's she indicates that we should go back to the era of Bill Clinton

That WILL hurt her in the long wrong, because it ISN'T Bill Clinton running for president

While Bill Clinton should definitely be active, but remain inconspicuous in her campaign

6. I haven't heard her say "go back to the era...." -- that'd be political suicide.
I think she does defend his administration's record, though, to show what can be done.

I agree they need to be careful about where they have Bill Clinton appearing. It's really a whole new political equation we haven't seen before. Very interesting to watch!

8. She didn't actually use those direct words, but it implied that philosophy
Bill Clinton is a double edge sword, it will play with some, but hurt you with others

A similar thing occurred with John Kerry when he brought up his war record in 2004. Nothing is necessarily wrong with that, except that when you bring something up you better be prepared to defend it. It wasn't that his defense of it was weak, but it DETRACTED from the REAL ISSUES in 2004.

7. When Bush took office he had decades of experience
especially in foreign policy. As a decorated military officer, he served several combat tours and went on to run a string of successful businesses. His squeaky clean and sober past made him the hugely popular leader of the free world he is today.

Hillary had better be careful when she mentions experience because she has a pretty high standard to live up to.

It shouldn't be necessary, but :sarcasm:
