Can someone explain why they detest these two so much? I mean they are Repugs after all.

Also the Repug media has been crushing these guys with invective I've not seen before inside a party.

1. Because they are populists not corporatists..
the same reason they hate progressives.

4. um, partly. and partly because
Upper East Side repukes, Saddle River NJ repukes, Greenwich CT repukes, have far more in common culturally with dems than with fundie wierdos.

5. Indeed, They Expose the Betrayal
How populist Huckabee and Paul are ... I'm not so sure.

But, what I think they expose is just how far Bush/Cheney and the corporatists have hijacked the traditional Republican Party and turned it into a looting and fraud machine for the governing and transnational corporate elite.

Huckabee is a threat because he is exposing how the religious right has been used and abused by the Bushites. If the corporate Republican establishment loses their sheep-like loyalty, then they are in really big trouble. Paul is a threat because he exposes that Bush/Cheney are radical political crooks, not conservative in any traditional sense of the word.

Fox Noise, the Bush cronies, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the greedy corporatists have got to destroy Huck and Paul simply because their kind of dissent within the ranks of the Bush-Republican Party cannot be tolerated ... or the theft and robbery will come to an end.

I find Huckabee and Paul very interesting political figures, and while I don't agree with them on much of anything, I like that they are being bold enough to challenge the power structure of their own party.

2. They highlight the hidden divisions in the Repug party
that the establishment would rather not see the light of day.

6. Old SoCal Joke
A Los Angeles County Republican and an Orange County Republican walk into the same meeting. The LA County Republican has a Wall Street Journal folded under his arm. The Orange County Republican has a Bible under his arm.

You guys have described just about that same distinction, eh?

3. Because they want a centrally controlled ideologically narrow party
Neither Paul nor Huckabee fall in line.

You can't have a dictatorship when there is dissent in The Party
