1. Hnmnf you know I'm die hard for Hillary, but I'm not getting my hopes up because
At this point in Iowa, Hillary was ahead of Obama by like 10 points.

22. I'll be happy if she doesn't lose to Obama by double digits...
I'll take these numbers and enjoy them for now. If Obama's "wave" does, indeed, materialize Clinton will still get up and continue to fight. I support her to the end.

In order to support a candidate, you have to believe they will win regardless of the circumstances?

Unless Obama pulls it out big-time, he's just lost the momentum. And Obama, I think, needed the momentum to win.

And if he loses, he might still win the nomination, but the odds would be strongly against him, IMO.

And don't worry, Obama will probably still win New Hampshire, maybe just by a little less than the best expectations.

But at least you know now this isn't some first-candidate-to-get-a-vote wins the election process.

31. No one tells the people of NH how to vote
But they're voting and it looks like, at 20%. that Manchester and Nashua are going Clinton, with Obama close behind. No idea how it will turn out but now at 22% Senator Clinton is maintaining her 4% lead over Obama. So good luck to them both and thanks to the other Democrats who ran because they want to help this country.

Good Luck, Obama supporter!

38. They're an Independent state
Democrats should really learn not to pump money and time into Iowa just to keep the media busy. Iowa is just a caucus. Important state but it should have a primary.

Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 09:01 PM by Sparkly
BUT, NH polls seem to shift drastically right after Iowa -- not just a bounce, but a sea change. So I've come to see the "independent" thing as false.

We'll see.

48. WHY? NH was a must win for Clinton, not for Obama.
It's not going to be a decisive victory for either one. So, really, it's a draw. It only *maybe* means something if Obama comes ahead in the draw.

What I think could be more interesting is if, in future primaries, the Midwest trends for Obama and the Northeast for Clinton. That could makes things sticky. I'm a Midwesterner, so I'm admittedly biased, but I tend to think that the midwestern voice might win out in this one, particularly if Obama attracts significant numbers of independents.

What happened to change things so badly, Hillary's tears? That's a pretty poor sign of the state of our democracy if her crying could make enough people suddenly run back to her to give her a win in NH, I mean do tears have anything to do with what someone will do as president?

I've been nervous as hell for ages that something like this would happen, but was finally starting to get comfortable with all of the big Obama leads in polls, and then my nightmare comes true after all it seems.
